WWE risks alienating loyal but angry fans after questionable decision on Drew McIntyre, legend says

After recent developments, Drew McIntyre might be one of the most frustrated superstars in the WWE from a kayfabe standpoint. Konnan recently admitted that McIntyre's failure to win the title in front of Scottish fans might backfire on the company.

The Scottish Warrior expectedly got a hero's welcome when he took on Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship at Clash at the Castle.

The main event was a high-octane affair that eventually saw CM Punk appear in a referee's shirt and cost Drew McIntyre a championship win. An irate McIntyre would "quit" WWE on the RAW after Clash at the Castle, but he is expected to return for his highly-anticipated match against CM Punk.

While speaking on Keepin' it 100, Konnan felt the promotion should have given Drew McIntyre a well-deserved title win in front of his hometown fans. McIntyre lost his match against Roman Reigns last year, and Konnan believed they needed to give him a win this time around, which sadly didn't happen:

"The people were really mad in Scotland. Whether you care or not, it's a fact. They were mad they had to pay high prices again, to watch their hero get beat, but the WWE was in quite a quagmire because you can't stop Damian Priest because he is on a roll right now. Drew has been one of the best TV shows in the WWE for the year. In his hometown last year, they should have done it with Roman, but they didn't. And yes, they were like, finally, we're going to do it. We can't keep disappointing loyal fans and expect them to come back." [1:05 - 1:38]

Konnan sheds light on the new WWE and what fans expect

Co-host Disco Inferno argued that Drew McIntyre not going over Damian Priest is part of a long-term plan involving CM Punk.

Disco also highlighted a long history of the Stamford-based organization not delivering big moments when they matter the most. Konnan responded by saying WWE was now under different management, where anything and everything is possible.

Konnan brought up the Vince McMahon regime, under which working with other companies would have been forbidden. This was not the case in the Triple H era, however. Konnan said fans expect more from the new and improved WWE, including allowing certain talents to raise their hands on the right occasion:

"There is a new administration now. People know they don't do the same thing as they used to do before. Vince would not have worked with NOAH or Joshi or TNA, but Triple H is doing it, you know what I'm saying?" [1:45 onwards]

Whether Triple H and his team suffer the negative consequences of their booking at Clast at the Castle will probably only be felt, if any, when the company returns to the UK.
