Cody Rhodes is the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion and arguably one of the biggest stars in the promotion today. The American Nightmare has been the face of the company since he captured the title at WrestleMania 40 this year, defeating Roman Reigns. He was recently injured by his former friend Kevin Owens. Meanwhile, the promotion has seemingly spoiled his return date.

KO and Cody Rhodes locked horns in their second one-on-one match this year at Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024. At the end of a tough contest, The American Nightmare managed to retain his gold. Despite clinching a big win, the show ended on a bad note for the champion as The Prizefighter nailed a Package Piledriver on him.

The assault left Cody Rhodes motionless in the center of the ring. He was immediately rushed to the hospital, and later, the promotion released a statement revealing that he sustained some injuries due to the beatdown.

Since SNME, Rhodes has not made any appearances for the company and was recently seen wearing a cervical collar in public. Hence, he could be sidelined from in-ring action for a while.

Recently, an eagle-eyed X (formerly Twitter) account shared a flyer from the company advertising the third episode of RAW on Netflix. The show is set to take place on January 20, live from Dallas, Texas. The American Nightmare was featured on the event's promotional material, meaning he could return on the show or before that.

The Undisputed WWE Champion was heavily advertised for RAW's premiere episode on Netflix, which is set to take place on January 6. However, KO's attack on Rhodes has led many to wonder whether he would be cleared to appear at the event.

Is Cody Rhodes genuinely injured?

Cody Rhodes was viciously taken out at Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024 by Kevin Owens. In an update, WWE announced that The American Nightmare had sustained some injuries because of the attack. Therefore, fans have been worried about the health of the 39-year-old star. Many have been wondering whether the champion is genuinely hurt.

It appears that the injury angle is part of the storyline, as no report has indicated that Rhodes has sustained a real-life injury. It remains to be seen what the Triple H-led creative team has in store for the thrilling saga in the coming months.
