WWE is taking a big step starting next month, which will mark a milestone in the company's history. According to WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long, Triple H's decision regarding this is absolutely a good move.
Starting from January 2025, WWE RAW will move to Netflix for streaming. This has been hailed by many as a daring move, but also been seen as very likely to yield great results. Considering the show will probably not have as many restrictions as it had before on TV, this could also mean fans get to see a very different style of content in the weekly episodes. This could allow Triple H and his creative team a lot more flexibilty to execute their vision for the on-screen product.
Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, the former SmackDown GM Teddy Long stated:
"If you are a real, true wrestling fan, if you don't have Netflix, you are gonna get Netflix. And like you said Bill, this is a whole new era. Nothing like this has ever been done before, so this is the first time thing and I think what's gonna happen now is WWE is going to be the people to test this." [2:40 onwards]
WWE Hall of Famer believes it is a step in the right direction
According to Teddy Long, RAW's move to Netflix will automatically mean more exciting matches.
Adding to his previous comments on The Wrestling Time Machine, the Hall of Famer explained that RAW coming to Netflix could foster a more 'real' form of wrestling. He said:
"I believe it's gonna work, I really, really do. Because with Netflix, there's a lot of stuff you can do that you couldn't do on regular TV. So, which means that it's gonna make matches more exciting and more real. So, I think it's a great move and everything." [3:00 onwards]
As of now, it remains to be seen how RAW evolves in the coming months after this huge transition.
