A recent match between Jacob Fatu and Jey Uso on WWE SmackDown received some criticism, which actually didn't have much to do with the bout itself. A Hall of Famer talked about the issue and stated that it was possibly intentional on the part of the production team.

During the match between Jacob and Jey, the former was seen vocalizing his anger at times and making a few comments. However, the exact words were not audible, on account of the commentary team often speaking over it. This, for some, proved to be an annoyance, but Teddy Long thinks it could easily have been intentional.

Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Time Machine hosted by Mac Davis, the WWE Hall of Famer stated:

"Sometimes, when they are doing stuff like that, you know that's there for a reason. Maybe they didn't want you to hear what they (the wrestlers) were saying. Maybe they could go back to that, maybe next week on the show, 'Hey, as Michael Cole and the guy were talking there, there was a confrontation on some kind of a, something going on between Jacob Fatu.' We don't know what they were saying but we did get a little bit of it... You know what I mean, you can always use that." [10:16 onwards]

The WWE Hall of Famer believes the commentators were instructed by the production team

While there have been a few complaints against the commentary team regarding this matter, Teddy Long claims that the commentators are not to be blamed.

Speaking on the same episode of The Wrestling Time Machine, the WWE Hall of Famer stated:

"These guys aren't doing something on their own. They are (doing) what they are being told to do in the production meeting earlier that night, so I wouldn't label them as idiots, you know what I mean." [8:00 onwards]

The match itself was an entertaining affair, with Jacob coming out on top against Jey. It remains to be seen what is next for the rising star down the line.
