Wes Lee has come into his own as a star. After winning his first singles title, the NXT North American Championship, Lee proved himself a fighting champion with the most defenses in history. After Lee lost the title, he continued his pursuit to reclaim gold but suffered a serious injury.
After spending months on the shelf, Lee returned and immediately challenged Oba Femi for the NXT North American Championship. After failing to win the title at NXT Battleground, he was granted one last shot at Heatwave. However, Wes Lee could still not defeat Oba Femi for the title.

Tonight on WWE NXT, Wes Lee addressed his future in the company. As he spoke to the NXT Universe, he wasn't his usual motivated self. He talked about wanting to step away when the fans stopped him with "please don't go" and "no" chants, making it abundantly clear that they didn't want him to leave.
It remains to be seen what will be in store for Wes Lee now that he can no longer challenge for the NXT North American Championship.

If ever given a chance to change a storyline, Sunil would have booked Roman Reigns to end The Undertaker’s WrestleMania streak instead of Brock Lesnar. According to him, The Tribal Chief needed the victory more than Brock Lesnar, as the latter was already an established performer when he defeated ‘Taker. He would’ve also made that as Taker’s final match.
