A WWE star found himself in the middle of a heated controversy in March 2022. While he was released by the Stamford-based promotion then, he has returned and fought in his first title match in 858 days. Interestingly, the 30-year-old sent a determined message to everyone ahead of the bout.
Zachary Wentz and Wes Lee have teamed together to face Nathan Frazer and Axiom for the NXT Tag Team Championship. This reunited their highly popular faction, MSK, at the Great American Bash. The TNA star last fought a title match in WWE at Stand and Deliver on April 2, 2022.
Shortly before the episode went live, Wentz took to X and uploaded a tweet with a resolute one-word message.
“Redemption," he wrote.
Wentz tweeted in response to the poster for the title match he would be fighting alongside his longtime friend Wes Lee. Notably, Zachary was released back in April 2022 following allegations of abuse by his ex-wife and Kimber Lee (AKA Abbey Laith).
Zachary Wentz prevented Wes Lee’s exit in a TNA X WWE collaboration moment
WWE and TNA are currently running a collaborative partnership. Each week, the promotions exchange their wrestlers to entertain their fans.
Notably, one such storyline saw Zachary Wentz and Trey Miguel return to prevent their Rascalz teammate Wes Lee from quitting the Stamford-based promotion.
Apparently, Lee felt very guilty for losing his shot at the NXT North American Championship against Oba Femi at NXT Heatwave. As a part of the stipulation, he also lost all future shots at the title as long as Femi remained champion. It was then that his Rascalz brothers convinced him to keep fighting.
In a turn of events tonight, MSK lost the NXT Tag Team Title match against Frazer and Axiom, which caused Wes Lee to snap and turn on his teammates. It would be interesting to see how Wentz responds to this betrayal.
