A current champion won his title in a rather controversial fashion last week. Hence, WWE stripped him of the title this week.

Lexis King has been on a mission in recent months to prove that he is nothing like his father, Brian Pillman. However, very few people are buying what he's selling due to his antics earlier in his NXT run. He has been in pursuit of the Heritage Cup as well.

He got a chance to challenge for the cup on the October 29 episode of WWE NXT, with William Regal in his corner. During the match, Regal offered him the brass knuckles to use on Charlie Dempsey but Lexis King didn't want to win that way. As a result, he ended up losing the match.

Last week on the black and silver brand, Lexis got another shot at the Heritage Cup. Again, William Regal offered him the brass knuckles but he refused to use it. As a result, the former NXT GM punched King which sent the knuckles flying towards Dempsey, who picked it up. The referee thought he had used it and declared Lexis the winner and handed him the Heritage Cup.

Tonight on WWE NXT, all three men were in Ava's office. Ava told Lexis that the cup can't change hands due to a DQ but he will get the chance to win it back next week in a sudden-death match. He was then instructed to hand the cup back to Charlie Dempsey and Lexis King reluctantly did as he was told.

It will be interesting to see if Lexis King will be able to defeat Charlie Dempsey next week and become the rightful holder of the Heritage Cup.
