Bobby Lashley's future with WWE is up in the air as his contract is set to expire soon, with the two parties yet to reach an agreement. Amid all the uncertainties, wrestling veteran Dutch Mantell shared his thoughts on the All Mighty's potential departure from the company.
Lashley has been away from WWE programming for over two months. It was recently reported that his contract will be expiring soon and the star has not yet inked a new deal with the company. He was also recently removed from the company's internal roster list, along with MVP.
Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk, Dutch Mantell stated that he does not see any new direction for Lashley in WWE. The veteran was also not in support of the All Mighty joining AEW.
"He is close to 50 years old, isn’t he? Sometimes you gotta have an exit strategy anyway. I mean, your body is only going to hold up for so long. He’s in great shape, I am not saying he’s not but still. Bobby Lashley has been around a long time. If I were a booker and Bobby Lashley came in, I would actually be stretching my imagination to think what to do with him. Tony Khan, he may bring him in but we know how AEW works. They bring in guys, you see them for a couple of weeks and then you may not see them for a couple of months. It’s hard to get people over like that." [From 51:09 onwards]
Bobby Lashley was part of a faction with The Street Profits on SmackDown before his hiatus. The former WWE Champion is expected to leave the company once his contract expires, with AEW looking like the most likely destination.
