WWE veteran comments on DIY's heel turn on SmackDown (Exclusive)

DIY shocked the wrestling world on SmackDown as Johnny Gargano embraced his villainous side to help his team win the WWE Tag Team Championship. Dutch Mantell shared his thoughts on the heel turn during his appearance on Sportskeeda Wrestling's Smack Talk.

While Tommaso Ciampa had been showing signs of a heel turn over the last few weeks, Gargano was still presented as a babyface. However, things took a shocking turn on SmackDown as Johnny Wrestling delivered a low blow to Chris Sabin during their impromptu tag team title match against the Motor City Machine Guns. DIY then went on to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Dutch Mantell praised the heel turn on Smack Talk, noting that hardly anyone saw Gargano embracing his villainous side. The former WWE manager added that he has high hopes for DIY's tag title reign.

"Well executed, and it made you think. I am watching it, and after all these years, I can’t tell where it’s going. That’s the beauty about wrestling. The way they did it, it kinda surprised me, in a good way. These guys, they are going to have some barn burners. They are going to burn it up. It was preconceived; how did they do this? They just did; they figured it out and made Sabin and Shelley look like goofs for not figuring it out themselves. Now they can put these guys in the ring, give them 15 minutes, and they’ll burn the building down." [From 51:26 onwards]

DIY also seemingly attacked the Street Profits backstage as Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins were originally slated to face MCMG for the titles. However, the duo was found laid out in the back, with Gargano and Ciampa stepping up to take their place.
