Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently spoke about The New Day segment on RAW this week. The company celebrated the group for their 10th anniversary.
This week on RAW, former WWE Champion Big E showed up during the Anniversary Celebration to resolve the issues between his team members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. However, Kofi and Woods turned on him and asked him to leave the faction once and for all.
During the latest episode of The Brand, Russo pointed out that there was no payoff to the angle because Big E couldn't wrestle and get retribution from his former friends. The veteran writer mentioned that WWE went through the ordeal of breaking up the group to make New Day a heel faction.
He predicted that Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods would be just another heel tag team on RAW that fans wouldn't care about in a few weeks.
A female WWE star said her life is in danger. Details HERE
"Bro, it's not like Big E can go out and get a partner, and they can come back and kill these two guys. The guy can't work. So we did this whole thing to turn New Day into a heel tag team that nobody is gonna give a sh*t about in two weeks," Russo said. [From 4:15 - 4:37]
Russo claimed the New Day angle made zero sense
During the same discussion, Russo claimed that the angle wouldn't make sense to anyone in their right mind.
The veteran writer pointed out that blaming Big E for abandoning his team members was ridiculous when the former WWE Champion was out with a broken neck.
"You've had a best friend relationship with this dude for 10 years, the dude breaks his neck, could never wrestle again and you're gonna turn on the dude because he held you back? What world do you people live in that this makes any sense whatsoever?"
With Big E out of the way, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods in the coming weeks.
