Chief Content Officer Triple H is currently leading WWE's Creative. However, a wrestling veteran claimed the company would let him go if his former rival returned in a full-time role.
Triple H and The Rock had real-life heat earlier in their careers as in-ring competitors. The two also had a historic rivalry on camera. While The Game currently leads the Stamford-based company creatively, The Final Boss returned last year to join TKO's board of directors. Although the 52-year-old legend had a heated feud with Cody Rhodes heading into WrestleMania 40, he went on hiatus following the premium live event to continue his work in Hollywood.
Speaking on The Hannibal TV, former WWE head writer Vince Russo claimed The Rock's success in the movie business is the only thing keeping The Game in his position. The wrestling veteran claimed the company would not need Triple H if The Rock decided to return to WWE full-time:
"Ari Emanuel and The Rock have had a very very long relationship. I believe, you know, Rock still being one of the top movie stars in the world, I honestly believe that is what is keeping Triple H in his spot. Because if Rock still wasn't a box office success and Rock still wasn't making blockbuster movies that were earning a lot of money, and Rock decided I wanna get back into wrestling full-time, there's absolutely no need for Triple H," he said.
A former WWE writer just went after JBL for his comments HERE
The 63-year-old stated that The Rock could work directly with Endeavor CEO Ari Emanuel to run WWE. He pointed out that The Final Boss already has a list of people that he would put in key positions:
"Rock could work directly with Ari Emanuel. I guarantee you, Rock has a list of people that he would put in place in key positions. And who knows, man, if Rock's movie career does begin to wane a little bit, who knows if Rock decides, you know what, I'm gonna go back and I'm going to run this company? If Rock ever made that decision to become more involved on a daily basis, I don't think there's any need for Triple H at all in that company." [0:01 - 1:22]
Vince Russo predicted Triple H's WWE stint will end in 2025
Triple H has been working for the Stamford-based company since the mid-1990s. In addition to his career as an in-ring performer, The Game has held multiple executive positions over the past three decades.
However, Vince Russo predicted on a previous episode of his The Brand podcast that the Chief Content Officer's stint in the promotion will end in 2025:
"Guys, I have said this and I am not gonna go off of my prediction. I think Hunter will be gone from the WWE in 2025. I'm sorry, these lawsuits are gonna develop. A lot more is gonna come out of them. Ari Emanuel has The Rock on the board. Ari Emanuel and The Rock have a very very very long relationship. And The Rock is so key to this because why do I need Triple H if I got The Rock?" Russo said.
Former WWE Superstar Tommy Dreamer recently suggested The Rock and Triple H could have a power struggle storyline this year upon The Final Boss' potential comeback. It will be interesting to see if that would happen.
