The Wyatt Sicks' first official match on WWE RAW against American Made received much acclaim from fans. However, a veteran thinks the segment was a blunder on the part of the creative department.
While the members of The Wyatt Sicks are talented in-ring wrestlers in their own right, a major part of their allure is the mystery surrounding the faction. As such, former WWE head writer Vince Russo believes that this mystery should be preserved at all costs, akin to how The Undertaker's gimmick was presented.
The Wyatt Sicks' match on the August 5 episode of RAW, however, saw them take off their masks and seemingly abandon their supernatural gimmick in the ring during their fight against The American Made. Speaking on Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws hosted by Mac Davis, Vince Russo compared this to classic horror figures like Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger abandoning their character:
"So there's a killing spree. 30 minutes into the movie, Jason, Freddy, and Michael Myers take their masks off and become professional wrestlers. That's exactly what they did. That's exactly what they did, 30 minutes into the story, the monsters took their masks off and hit their opponents with wrestling moves. Guess what? Now we got another wrestling story." A former WWE star thinks Wyatt Sicks can have a successful run
While Vince Russo has his criticisms for the stable, former WWE star, EC3 believes that a few tweaks could help The Wyatt Sicks get over with the fans.
In the same episode of Sportskeeda's The Wrestling Outlaws, EC3 explained that the faction should not be booked the same way as The Wyatt Family or how Bray Wyatt was handled. He stated:
"If you treat it completely different, it has a shot to be huge. But if you kind of let it become something that is just like everything else, it is gonna be weird. As far as the talent, you know, Nikki Cross is amazing. Sam Shaw, aka Dexter Lumis, is one of the, how do I describe him, I don't know he is like Dexter in real life. So it's really cool to see him succeed, and he's always been a very good guy. Rowan's good to see back." [2:12 onwards]
For now, fans will have to stay tuned to see what WWE plans to do next with Wyatt Sicks.
