Xavier Woods teases new WWE alliance with "old friends"

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. They are The New Day — a ten-year partnership that appears to be on the verge of implosion, as is the case with many WWE factions and tag teams.

Woods lashed out at Kingston this past Monday. It was right after the two failed to capture the World Tag Team Championship from The Judgment Day. Ever since Big E left, the remaining members of The New Day always stuck it out. But perhaps enough is enough for Xavier Woods.

Taking to X, Woods dropped a cryptic post. He claims word on the streets is that he will be meeting up with some "old friends," adding to it, an implication, that times have changed and he needs to be respected:

"The streets saying that I may see some old friends soon. Just so yall know, I'm not a kid anymore," Xavier Woods wrote.

The other day, however, Woods also noted on his X profile that no matter what frustrations one goes through, there are some things that are bigger and more important. Whether he ultimately turns on Kingston bears watching.

Xavier Woods is The New Day's only member to have never held the WWE Championship

For Xavier Woods, not only has he never won the WWE Championship, unlike his brothers, who both went on to win the title and carry it for a prolonged period of time, but he has not even won a singles title.

Having been in WWE alone for over a decade, this is a good enough reason for the tag team specialist to move past The New Day at this point in his career. The 38-year-old has also not, unfortunately, received many opportunities to reach closer to this desired position.

Even when he became King of the Ring in 2021, it did not amount to anything for Woods, and he reverted back to being a tag team player. Naturally, when Kingston brought in Odyssey Jones to the group without Xavier's approval, the latter felt belittled.

RAW Superstar Karrion Kross wanted this for Woods, to break free from The New Day, which has seemingly held him down for far too long. But Kross may have had some evil intentions of his own. How that storyline gets intertwined with The New Day's possible breakup could make for an interesting show next week.
