WWE Hall of Famer Booker T has commented on what he honestly thinks about Joe Hendry. The veteran also addressed recent claims that he doesn't believe in the TNA wrestler.
Several days ago, a clip was shared of the former WCW World Champion ripping up a fan's Joe Hendry sign while he was entering at Heatwave. On NXT this week, the wrestling legend was not impressed when the TNA star showed up, and he even questioned why the crowd was cheering for him. The former TNA Digital Media Champion teamed up with Trick Williams to take on Ethan Page and Shawn Spears during the show.
In the latest edition of the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T commented on the fans thinking he doesn't believe in Joe Hendry. He stated:
"Nah, I mean, I don't know a whole lot about Joe Hendry, but he had a sparing moment in NXT. I hope to see a lot more. He's a good-looking kid. I want to see more of Joe Hendry... I have nothing against Joe Hendry, I'd love to see - I haven't got a chance to see any of his work.... The only reason his name reached me is because he's a** was on NXT. If he wasn't there, I wouldn't know who the hell Joe [Hendry is]... I'm not the type of guy that's just going to fall in love with you because you're a handsome kid. You got to show me something," said Booker T. [29:55-31:06]
Booker T wants Joe Hendry to prove himself in the ring
The TNA wrestler made his WWE in-ring debut last month on an episode of NXT. He was a surprise entrant in the 25-man battle royal and the first person to be eliminated from the match.
Booker T stated that he wants Joe Hendry to prove himself in the ring before he can endorse him.
"Like I say, when I see his face, he's a good-looking kid, I said let's get him in the ring, let's see what exactly he can do. Let's put the rocket on him and send him to the moon if he's good. I'm not gonna just endorse this kid just because he's got a name and he's got some blonde [hair]. I want to see him in the ring. I want to see his performance... All that other stuff, it means nothing if he can't work," said Booker T. [32:00-32:28]
There's a big chance that the fans will see more of Joe Hendry in WWE. He is massively over on NXT.
