Former WWE Superstar Saraya Jade Bevis (Paige) was the youngest female champion in the company's history when she won the Divas Title from AJ Lee in April 2014. She was 22 years old at the time. Cut to 2024: she now performs in AEW as the leader of The Outcasts. She is also a former AEW Women's World Champion.
At 31, Saraya continues strong as an in-ring performer despite a major setback a few years ago. She suffered a neck injury which forced her to retire. Saraya was denied medical clearance repeatedly. Ultimately, she decided to leave the Stamford-based promotion after a stint as the SmackDown General Manager.
Zelina Vega is a member of Rey Mysterio's Latino World Order on Monday Night RAW, albeit they have been off television for a while now. Saraya has now shared an "appreciation post" on X/Twitter, praising Vega. She stated that Vega is a "delight" and it is a blessing for her because she gets to live in the same timeline as the first WWE Queen of the Ring.
Here's what Saraya wrote on X:
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
"Appreciation post.. I love @ZelinaVegaWWE she’s a bloody delight isn’t she?!? You should see the texts I get from her.. all the years on earth and I get to be in the timeline with her?!?!"
After Vega failed to dethrone Women's World Champion Liv Morgan on the July 1st episode, she teamed up with the luchador legend in a losing effort against Morgan and Dominik Mysterio. This bout was also notable as it was 'Dirty' Dom's first pinfall victory over his father.
Judging by the back and forth between Liv Morgan and Zelina Vega, perhaps their feud is far from over on the company's flagship show.
Saraya reveals cold response by WWE during her tryout
During an interview with Broad Ideas Podcast, Saraya opened up about her WWE tryout. She mentioned a talent representative who told her she was not pretty enough to be on the show. Furthermore, the unknown individual also suggested that she should lose weight.
Saraya refused to mention the individual's name but claimed that the latter does not work for World Wrestling Entertainment anymore:
"I was 18 at the time, I did the [WWE] tryout and they were just like, ‘No,’ and there was a guy at the time that worked as T.R. that pretty much said I wasn’t pretty enough to be there too, which broke my heart [… ] He doesn’t work there anymore. He hasn’t worked there for years but he said, you know, I wasn’t pretty enough to be there and I needed to lose some baby weight and all that kind of stuff," she said.
In June 2022, Saraya announced her departure from WWE. By September, she debuted in AEW. It remains to be seen if she will ever return to her previous stomping grounds.
