LA Knight has started a stellar United States Championship run following his title win at SummerSlam. Last week, The Megastar successfully defended his belt for the second time. But, while the fans cheered for him, a reigning WWE champion felt disrespected by Knight’s post-match behavior. The man in question is Andrade.
The reigning WWE Speed Champion battled LA Knight for the US title in a losing effort last week. Taking the loss positively, the luchador extended his hand for a shake. However, Knight didn’t reciprocate, prompting Andrade to forcefully grab the victor’s hand for a partial handshake.
This week, Andrade caught Knight backstage and chose to confront him about the matter. Getting his attention, the luchador said:
“You beat me. I respect that. But where I come from, a real man shakes one's hands to show respect. And you? You lost my respect.”
Corey Graves deleted his Tweet! More details HERE.
Knight proceeded to respond and almost said that Andrade had to be kidding him. Just then, he was blindsided by a charging Carmelo Hayes, the WWE Speed Champion’s opponent for the night.
Melo looked very angry and called Andrade out to the ring for their match that was scheduled next. Notably, the duo faced each other for the sixth time tonight, with Andrade leading the series by 3-2. Both wrestlers had a highly physical battle of attrition, which involved several near falls. However, before the WWE Speed Champ could seal a fourth win, LA Knight entered the arena.
The Megastar wanted to get back at Melo for ambushing him without waiting for the match to end. Andrade asked Knight to go away while Hayes used this distraction to pin his opponent and level the series at 3-3.
Following this, LA Knight and Andrade got into a verbal spat. This time, Knight held out his hand, but the luchador refused to shake it and walked out of the ring. It will be interesting to see what happens in this raging Melo-Andrade rivalry and what the US Champion's next move might be.
