Under the leadership of Nick Aldis, the landscape of WWE SmackDown continues to evolve as the WWE Universe approaches Survivor Series: WarGames 2024. The upcoming episode of SmackDown is expected to bring further developments to the ongoing storylines and feuds on the blue brand. Amid this, speculation has surfaced that Nick Aldis might be instructed by Triple H to take Cody Rhodes off television.

Triple H is the Chief Content Officer of WWE. Additionally, he has been heavily involved in the ongoing triangular storyline featuring Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes. The Game initially attempted to prevent Orton from facing the darker side of Kevin Owens. However, despite his efforts, Orton wanted the match to be official and Triple H obliged, leading to severe consequences for The Viper.

To protect Orton, Triple H had even restricted Nick Aldis from booking any further matches between The Legend Killer and Owens. With Orton now sidelined after suffering a brutal Piledriver from Owens on the last episode of SmackDown, Cody Rhodes might become KO’s next target. Given this possibility, Triple H could issue an order to the National Treasure to write Rhodes off the television to safeguard him from Owens’ relentless attacks.

Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE

This decision would be rooted in protecting Rhodes, who is the current Undisputed WWE Champion, from potentially being sidelined by injury. The company likely wants to avoid jeopardizing the champion’s status, especially after what happened to Randy Orton last week. Further, as General Manager of SmackDown, Nick Aldis would be responsible for carrying out any such directive from Triple H.

It will be interesting to see how this storyline unfolds in the coming weeks and whether Cody Rhodes will indeed become Kevin Owens’ next target.

WWE could have an ulterior motive also if Nick Aldis takes Cody Rhodes off television

Beyond the storyline angle, WWE might have an ulterior motive for taking Cody Rhodes off the television. Recent reports suggest that The American Nightmare is not expected to participate in the upcoming Survivor Series: WarGames Premium Live Event.

This potential decision to write-off Cody by Nick Aldis could by explain his absence from the event. Additionally, it allows WWE to save a high-stakes Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens showdown for a later date, such as a Saturday Night's Main Event special.

If WWE chooses not to pull the Undisputed WWE Champion from television, there would need to be a compelling explanation for why Rhodes vs. Owens isn’t happening at Survivor Series 2024.

The upcoming episode of SmackDown is expected to provide more clarity on the direction of this storyline and the developing tension between Owens and Rhodes.
