What’s the story?
Earlier today, during the NJPW: Sakura Genesis event at the Ryōgoku Kokugikan arena, Matt and Nick Jackson—collectively known as the Young Bucks—seemingly walked out on their Bullet Club stablemate Cody Rhodes, during his tag team match against the Golden Lovers.
In case you didn’t know…
After turning his back on former leader Kenny Omega earlier in the year, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes had evidently confirmed that he wants to take claim of the leadership of the Bullet Club, and wants to sit at the top of the realm within the legendary Japanese faction.
Rhodes, who already proclaims himself as the “leader” of the Bullet Club, has stated in the past couple of months that he wants the rest of the Bullet Club (The likes of The Young Bucks, Marty Scurll, and even Tama Tonga) to follow his path, as he looks forward to leading the Biz Cliz from the front.
The heart of the matter
Earlier today, at NJPW: Sakura Genesis, the duo of Cody Rhodes and Hangman Page—who apparently seems to be the only full-fledged ally of Cody—teamed up together in order to battle the newly reunited team of Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi, The Golden Lovers.
Despite having a strong start to the match, the team of Ibushi and Omega were derailed by a very determined duo of Hangman Page and Cody Rhodes. Midway through the match, Rhodes proceeded to the top rope, seemingly to hit a Moonsault on Omega through a table, just as Page had a grasp of Kenny’s arms, in order to make sure that “The Cleaner” is inflicted with maximum damage.
However, just as Cody started to take measure from the top rope, he was abruptly interrupted by Matt and Nick Jackson—The Young Bucks, who came down to ringside, looking pretty disappointed with Cody’s actions.
Shortly afterward, Cody eventually decided to get off the top rope and offered a handshake to The Bucks in order to settle things down a bit. However, in return, Matt and Nick decided to walk out on “The American Nightmare”, rejecting Cody’s handshake in the process.
What’s next?
Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega will lock horns next week in New Orleans at ROH: Supercard of Honor XII at the Lakefront Arena and the winner of this match could pretty much decide the eventual leader of the Bullet Club.
Author’s take
It finally looks like Cody Rhodes’ days as a master manipulator is over. Now that the Young Bucks have decided to walk out on him, it could pretty much mean that both Matt and Nick have now decided to take Kenny Omega’s side in this Bullet Club civil war.
