The heart of the matter
While speaking on Sirius XM’s Busted Open Radio, 'The Cleaner' Kenny Omega spoke about a host of topics, including a brief comparison of his matches with Kazuchika Okada and Chris Jericho. Here are some highlights from Omega’s interview:
According to Omega, his match against current IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada at Wrestle Kingdom 11, was sort of a culmination of years of hard work in Japan in order to become 'The Guy' in NJPW.
Additionally, Omega said that his Wrestle Kingdom 11 classic against Okada was certainly a cool and great experience and it was definitely an athletic performance from both men, something which Omega is totally proud of.
On the other hand, however, Omega claimed that his bout against Chris Jericho earlier this year was told in a completely different manner, where two men absolutely hated each other and fought for pride and legacy. Surprisingly enough, Omega also stated that the aura and the atmosphere that he was able to create along with Chris Jericho, is something that he hopes to execute everytime he steps in an NJPW ring.
Kenny Omega believes that his match against Cody Rhodes at ROH: Supercard of Honor XII, is certainly going to be a show-stealer, and the current story between the two men is to determine who the rightful leader of the Bullet Club is.
Furthermore, Omega also noted the fact that Rhodes has indeed been manipulating the members of the Bullet Club from the sidelines but, as for the match at Supercard of Honor is concerned, Omega’s main goal is to make sure that he and Rhodes have a good and solid contest against each other and eventually reward all the loyal fans and as well as the ones in general.
What’s next?
NJPW: Strong Style Evolved takes place on the 25th of March at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California, and will be main-evented by the Golden Lovers and The Young Bucks. Meanwhile, ROH: Supercard of Honor XII will be headlined by Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega, on the 7th of April in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Author’s take
The current storyline surrounding the Bullet Club and The Golden Lovers, is certainly turning out to be one of the most interesting stories in the world of pro wrestling today and personally. I can’t wait to see how all of this eventually unfolds.
