The excitement in the air is palpable, even though the NXT Universe at Full Sail seems rather quiet and unenthusiastic on NXT TV, nowadays. As we inch closer to NXT Takeover: WarGames next month, we know that the men and women on this roster will pull out all stops and deliver a real winner.
This week of NXT action saw a big return and a powerful statement being made at the end of the show. We had a lot of storylines move forward and a massive match announced for next week, which should have long-term implications for the fate of the entire roster.
Without further ado, it's time to note down five points from this week's edition of NXT. Let's mull over each of them, and consider how they can play out over time.
Let us know in the comments below if you're as excited about NXT Takeover: WarGames as we are.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 Heartfelt story and possible feud?
As we have seen time and again, while the main roster makes everything seems plastic with incredibly scripted promos, NXT, on the other hand, bases all their stories in real life. This week, we heard from current NXT Champion and former main roster superstar Drew McIntyre, about his tough road to the top of NXT.
His interview was interrupted by the sultry Zelina Vega, who simply barged in and suggested that the champion had been avoiding her client Andrade 'Cien' Almas. McIntyre was gracious and replied that he would fight anyone, anywhere at all.
Looks like we're getting this big match down the line at the following Takeover event. Considering that both men are absolutely sensational workers, we think this match could steal the entire show.
Kudos to Vega who's given a whole new coat of paint to Andrade 'Cien' Almas.
#4 A massive return
The main event this week featured SAnitY against The Undisputed Era, two factions that have been getting each other's skins for a long time. The match was everything we had assumed it would be, and just as SAnitY was about to deliver the big finishing blow to The Undisputed era, a familiar theme song would ring out.
Kane wasn't the only major comeback, this week. The Authors of Pain ran through SAnitY, the faction who robbed them of their Tag Team Championships at the previous NXT Takeover. For those of you who've not read the spoilers yet, you guys are in for a treat soon.
Now that The Undisputed Era has been interjected into the feud between SAnitY and The Authors of Pain, with Roderick Strong remaining a strange component in the battle at hand, the possibilities are quite intriguing indeed.
Let the War Games begin, NXT Universe!
#3 Constant thorn by Black's side
The Velveteen Dream has been on a quest to get Aleister Black to notice him and say his name. This week, as Black went one on one with Raul Mendoza from the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament, The Velveteen Dream appeared on the apron and put on Aleister Black's jacket.
Not to be deterred, Black picked up a win despite losing the initial advantage due to the Velveteen Dream's distraction. He still didn't give The Velveteen Dream what the latter desired from him. He didn't say the man's name.
We wonder when the two men will finally square off. And also, which of the two men will win that contest.
#2 Another contender for the NXT Women's Championship
NXT started off with what was a pretty interesting match, as Sonya Deville, Ruby Riot and Ember Moon faced off in a qualifier for the NXT Women's Championship. Ember Moon picked up the big win and will now join Kairi Sane and Peyton Royce at NXT Takeover: WarGames.
The women told a great story throughout the match, with regard to Ruby Riot's leg that she injured after Riot performed a high-risk move. That became the focus of the match, and even played a factor in determining the outcome of the said contest. Storytelling is alive in the yellow brand.
We wonder if Ember Moon will become NXT Women's Champion in Houston, Texas on Survivor Series weekend. Is it her destiny?
#1 Huge match planned for next week
And then there was one. One slot to determine the fourth woman for the NXT Women's title. William Regal suggested a massive match to fill up this spot. There will be a Battle Royal featuring every single woman in NXT right now, next week.
Billie Kay seems like the overwhelming favourite going into the match, right now. She was featured in a segment with William Regal and honestly, could build a nice sub-story if she qualified, by introducing the numbers game during the big championship contest through an alliance with Royce.
Join us next week as we bring you more points to note. Also don't forget that we shall be bringing you live coverage of TLC, this Sunday.
Until the next time, Adios amigos!
