It was supposed to be a one-on-one confrontation between NXT Champion Bobby Roode and the Number 1 Contender, Drew McIntyre, initially. In due course of time, it became much more than that, because of Roderick Strong. As it stands, Roode pulled some strings and ensured his both his rivals, Drew McIntyre and Roderick Strong would face one another in (presumably) next week's main event. If Strong won the match, he would get a shot at Roode.
