WWE NXT Melbourne Live Event results (08/12/2016)

The Melbourne crowd was said to be red hot for their first NXT show in the city

#1 Liv Morgan vs. Billie Kay vs. Ember Moon

Ember Moon & the home country girl, Billie Kay, got good reactions, with Liv Morgan not getting much of one. The finish of the match saw Ember Moon and Liv Morgan battling on the top rope, and Billie Kay came in, looking to get a tower of doom. However, Ember Moon held on, which led her to hit her top rope stunner finisher on Billie, picking up the win.

Results: Ember Moon defeated Billie Kay & Liv Morgan

#2 Wesley Blake vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas

Although Wesley Blake played the babyface, he was booed out. Perhaps, it could have been due to him breaking up with Buddy Murphy, the hometown boy. The crowd was initially not too impressed by the bout, but things reportedly changed in its last few minutes. Andrade hit Blake with ‘the Running Knees’ to seal his victory.

Result: Andrade “Cien” Almas won via pinfall.

#3 The Revival vs. Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli

The Revival got a big pop, while “Who are you?” chants were directed towards Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli. Despite being heels, The Revival got babyface reactions, perhaps, because of the crowd’s familiarity with them. However, the match was said to be a solid bout. The Revival won using the Shatter Machine.

Result: The Revival defeated Riddick Moss & Tino Sabbatelli by pinfall

#4 Patrick Clark vs. Oney Lorcan

Patrick Clark definitely got the crowd buzzing in this bout. Chants of “sexual chocolate” and “purple rain” were directed towards him. However, the crowd was firmly behind Clark over Lorcan. The crowd even chanted “Holy s**t” chants when Clark took his scarf/bandana and whipped Lorcan with it. This led to “ECW” chants.

The crowd began to sarcastically chant “Fight forever” chants, followed by “This is awesome” while Lorcan had Clark in rest holds. The finish of the match saw Clark submit to Lorcan’s Elevated Half Crab.

Result: Oney Lorcan defeated Patrick Clark by submission

5) #DiY vs. TM-61 – NXT Tag Team Championship match

Both teams got huge pops. The match was said to be outstanding, and could certainly be the match of the night. DiY retained after hitting the superkick combination. Huge show of respect between the two teams.

Result: #DiY defeated TM-61 to retain the NXT Tag Team Championships via pinfall

After the match, William Regal came out and interacted with the crowd for 2 to 3 minutes

#6 Bobby Roode & Elias Samson vs. Tye Dillinger & Buddy Murphy

Elias Samson got nuclear heat. Samson played a song and the crowd hit him with chants of “Shut the f**k up”.

Samson threatened to deprive people of his song but decided that he loved the sound of his voice too much to stop. Bobby Roode’s music hit and he came out to a major pop. Tye Dillinger, and the hometown boy Buddy Murphy both came out to excellent reactions.

The crowd chanted “Aussie 10”, which transitioned into the standard “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi” which then turned into “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Ten, Ten, Ten”. The crowd was red hot for the match, and Bobby Roode even got “One” chanted at him. Dillinger pinned Samson after hitting him with the Tye breaker.

After the match, Dillinger and Murphy celebrated

Murphy was then left in the ring alone, where he was given a standing ovation by his home crowd

Result: Tye Dillinger & Buddy Murphy defeated Bobby Roode & Elias Samson via pinfall

#7 Asuka vs. Peyton Royce – NXT Women’s Championship

Peyton Royce got booed after she was announced from Sydney (Melbourne and Sydney have a rivalry), making her the only Australian of the night to get a negative reaction.

The match was said to be quite flat. The crowd began a Mexican wave and even started chanting “We want tables”, and even brief “CM Punk” chants, which were quickly booed out by the crowd. Asuka won with the Asuka Lock

Result: Asuka defeated Peyton Royce to retain the NXT Women’s Championship by submission.

It was time for the main event, and the steel cage stopped halfway through and was lowering at a 45-degree angle, prompting “Botch-a-mania” chants from the crowd. Once the cage was lowered and ready to go after a ten-minute delay, the crowd chanted “You still got it” at the cage.

#8 Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe – Steel Cage match for the NXT Championship

The crowd popped big for Nakamura, but not as much for Joe. However, during the match, the crowd was supposedly split 60-40 in favour of Nakamura. The crowd also reported that the match felt lengthy.

At the end of the match, Nakamura teased leaving through the door but slammed it shut and hit Joe with the knee from the back, followed up by a Kinshasa for the victory, thus retaining and ending their feud.

The cage match is set to air on tv next week.

Result: Nakamura retains via pinfall.
