#6 Bobby Roode & Elias Samson vs. Tye Dillinger & Buddy Murphy
Elias Samson got nuclear heat. Samson played a song and the crowd hit him with chants of “Shut the f**k up”.
Samson threatened to deprive people of his song but decided that he loved the sound of his voice too much to stop. Bobby Roode’s music hit and he came out to a major pop. Tye Dillinger, and the hometown boy Buddy Murphy both came out to excellent reactions.
The crowd chanted “Aussie 10”, which transitioned into the standard “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oi, Oi, Oi” which then turned into “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Ten, Ten, Ten”. The crowd was red hot for the match, and Bobby Roode even got “One” chanted at him. Dillinger pinned Samson after hitting him with the Tye breaker.
After the match, Dillinger and Murphy celebrated
Murphy was then left in the ring alone, where he was given a standing ovation by his home crowd
Result: Tye Dillinger & Buddy Murphy defeated Bobby Roode & Elias Samson via pinfall
#7 Asuka vs. Peyton Royce – NXT Women’s Championship
Peyton Royce got booed after she was announced from Sydney (Melbourne and Sydney have a rivalry), making her the only Australian of the night to get a negative reaction.
The match was said to be quite flat. The crowd began a Mexican wave and even started chanting “We want tables”, and even brief “CM Punk” chants, which were quickly booed out by the crowd. Asuka won with the Asuka Lock
Result: Asuka defeated Peyton Royce to retain the NXT Women’s Championship by submission.
It was time for the main event, and the steel cage stopped halfway through and was lowering at a 45-degree angle, prompting “Botch-a-mania” chants from the crowd. Once the cage was lowered and ready to go after a ten-minute delay, the crowd chanted “You still got it” at the cage.
#8 Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Samoa Joe – Steel Cage match for the NXT Championship
The crowd popped big for Nakamura, but not as much for Joe. However, during the match, the crowd was supposedly split 60-40 in favour of Nakamura. The crowd also reported that the match felt lengthy.
At the end of the match, Nakamura teased leaving through the door but slammed it shut and hit Joe with the knee from the back, followed up by a Kinshasa for the victory, thus retaining and ending their feud.
The cage match is set to air on tv next week.
Result: Nakamura retains via pinfall.
