NXT News: Samoa Joe title victory to air on WWE Network

Samoa Joe officially took Finn Balor’s NXT Championship at a live event last week.

Fans will get a chance to see Samoa Joe’s NXT Championship victory, after all.

The match took place at a live event last Thursday in Lowell, Massachusetts, meaning it wasn’t actually a part of an NXT taping. Still, the WWE has announced that the match will be included in this week’s hour-long NXT show, according to the company’s website.

The show will begin, as usual, at 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on the WWE Network and will also include a match that will pit NXT newcomer and New Japan Pro Wrestling alumni Shinsuke Nakamura against Elias Samson.

Samoa Joe’s title win comes less than a year after his NXT debut on May 20, 2015, and puts to rest any speculation that he’d be called up to the main roster, at least for the time being. The loss for Balor, the longest-reigning NXT champion at 292 days, only stokes similar conversations for him, although he attempted to quell those rumors with a promo that promised he was staying in NXT.

Adding to that rumor mill is the presence of Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson and AJ Styles on the WWE main roster, all of whom are former Bullet Club members like Balor.
