Brock Lesnar can be considered one of the most polarizing WWE Superstar of this century. He has expanded his area of expertise beyond WWE, and his name can literally send a shiver down the spine of any WWE Superstar.
The current RAW Universal Champion is the longest-serving WWE Champion in recent times, and he had broken the record of CM Punk last year. He has annihilated the streak of The Undertaker a few years back, and currently, he is the most bankable WWE Superstar.
However, there is this one new entrant in NXT who is not petrified of Brock Lesnar, and he claims that he can retire Lesnar from wrestling scene. The guy is none other than Matt Riddle.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Matt Riddle is one of the hottest prospects of NXT right now, and he has taken the yellow brand by storm. Riddle has a unique charisma about him, and has already impressed in the ring in his limited amount of matches, and made a statement with a six-second victory over Kassius Ohno at TakeOver: War Games.
Prior to his stint in NXT, he had wrestled in the Independent scene, making a shift from MMA to wrestling due to a second positive drug test.
His 'I don't care' attitude has gained him a lot of popularity, and he is a huge asset to WWE. In the next few years, we can see him in the main roster, and if his luck favours him, then in the main-event scene.
Just a few months into his NXT career back in November, Riddle sent out a tweet following the conclusion of WWE's Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia, where Brock Lesnar re-claimed the Universal Championship.
In his recent interview with Jeremy Borash this past week, the latter asked him about his beef with Lesnar to which he replied,
"Retiring Brock, that’s no secret. That’s been the goal since I started wrestling since the very beginning," said Riddle.
"I like to set goals that seem impossible. Only one person can retire Brock Lesnar, only one person can end his career and that person is going to be me.
I don't like how he does it, I don't like the respect that he shows, and I don't like the workrate that he puts out. That's just my personal opinion. I think he's capable of more. Maybe it doesn't work out for me, maybe it doesn't work out the first time, but I guarantee you I'm going to beat him and I'm gonna retire him."
Brock Lesnar is not the only main-eventer Riddle has vowed to defeat, John Cena also stars in his bucket list of dream matches.
Riddle noted that he had a chat with John Cena in the Madison Square Garden and he would love to wrestle him in a match. According to ProWrestling.com, he said,
“Before I would have said, Cesaro, because he’s so athletic. But after going to Madison Square Garden and having a chat with John Cena, I think I want to fight John Cena. He might want to wrestle, but I kind of want to fight him, and see where it goes.”
Whether it is going to happen or not is another thing, but if the company are serious about Riddle being a huge star in the future, they should give these MMA fighters a chance to compete against each other.
