THE Main EventThis was one of the two main events scheduled for NXT Takeover: Brooklyn. They were given almost 35 minutes to tell their story. Well, WWE you better pay them like they were the main event because these two made it feel like one. Bayley became the new NXT Womens Champion and the fact is that everyone whos an NXT loyalist knew that this would happen. But the story that played out this night was evocative and they had the audience in the palm of their hands. How could Balor and Owens follow that? Here are the 5 coolest moments from this spectacular match-
#5 The video package
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
If there was anyone who till now felt that Bayley’s ‘Road To Redemption’ storyline was a rush, the video package should shove away that little missing link. It’s amazing how truly awesome they made the story look with that video. It showed Bayley as the ultimate underdog. It recounted how she’s lost in every big match in her NXT career. It showcased how she is one of the Big Four of NXT but yet did not make it to the main roster like Charlotte, Lynch and Banks.
Banks was shown as the elite MVP that she is. The Boss was the success story and the Goliath to Bayley. Her performance was incomparable.
The Revolution did not start at Raw, it had begun way before in NXT.
#4 The entrances
The entrances actually made Takeover feel like Wrestlemania. The Boss entered much like John Cena did in a Wrestlemania main event in Chicago. She was escorted to the ring by her bodyguards.
Bayley had a cheerful and colorful entrances. The flying hugs, the ribbons on her attire, the emotion on her face being in front of an arena of 15,589 people was testament to how much of a success story the women’s division of NXT is.
#3 The wrestling
WHAT. A. MATCH.
Be it the monkey flip over the referee to Bayley at ringside or the submission reversal by Bayley on Banks with The Boss’s own move or the pressure put by Sasha on Bayley’s injured arm, they were all spectacular moments in the match. The Brooklyn crowd went berserk.
Sasha Banks showed why she’s the baddest, the best and The Boss. She was a terrific heel. Bayley played her role perfectly. The reversed hurricanrana was the cherry on top.
#2 The Ultimate Underdog
If you though that Bayley’s crowning moment will take a path quite like Sami Zayn’s, you were absolutely right.
But if you thought that moment won’t be as great as Zayn’s victory, then you were definitely wrong. Bayley’s coronation was as good a feel good moment as any. So much so that it was difficult to believe that the final match of the night could even live up to what was on display here.
This is the revolution WWE needs on the main roster. The Brooklyn crowd was thoroughly invested in this story. A story well told will get the attention it deserves.
#1 The Big Four
The final moment was the best moment of a match that was so high on so many best moments. Charlotte and Becky Lynch came to congratulate Bayley on her victory but what took the cake was Banks walking upto Bayley and hugging her. It was the ultimate show of respect and the apt way to show the four women responsible for NXT’s success and the changing attitudes about divas.
The Big Four of NXT left a picture worth saving.
