Former NXT Women's Champion Ember Moon returned to the Black and Gold Brand in the fall of 2020, with vignettes showing that Moon was returning to claim what was rightfully hers, namely the NXT Women's Championship.

It's been a winding road, which saw her and Shotzi Blackheart team up to beat Raquel González and Dakota Kai for the new NXT Women's Tag Titles this year.

With a victory over González already, Moon is set to face the champion at NXT TakeOver: In Your House to finally achieve the goal she's had since returning. It was time to take back the title. The problem was she was facing, probably, the most dominant NXT Women's Champion the brand has ever seen since Shayna Baszler, who was the one who took the gold from Ember Moon in the first place.

González has run through the entire division, and was even responsible for sending Rhea Ripley to Monday Night RAW. González has been the exact definition of dominant, crushing anyone that's stood in her way. She even ended the fantastic reign of Io Shirai after driving her into the mat with her destructive powerbomb.

Mercedes Martinez, Zoey Stark, and even Moon herself have all fallen to González, and with Dakota Kai by her side, it's doubtful that her run at the top will be coming to an end any time soon. Stil, Moon surprised González with an Eclipse counter out of her powerbomb on the most recent episode of NXT, proving that she had an answer for the champion's most dangerous weapon.
