NXT Champion Karrion Kross has been one of the most dominant champions in recent memory. While his two reigns add up to just a little over two-months combined, Kross has destroyed every single competitor he's been in the ring with.
Tommaso Ciampa, Keith Lee, Dominik Dijakovic and current NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed all met his wrath prior to his shoulder injury. Kross demolished all four of these men, which is impressive considering how dominant they'd all been on the Black and Gold Brand.
Since returning, Kross has also demolished Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Oney Lorcan, and the entirety of Legado Del Fantasma in a street fight.
WWE fans weren't surprised when Kross told GM William Regal he wanted all four of his competitors in a five-way match at TakeOver. Pete Dunne, Kyle O'Reilly, Adam Cole, and Johnny Gargano had all stepped up to Kross recently, going so far as to attack the NXT Champion several times over. Kross has promised to leave everyone lying, though during a recent panel he stated there was a chance he could lose the belt at TakeOver.
Our own Rick Uccino asked Kross if he was concerned about losing the gold, and Kross stated that when going into a match like this, the possibility is very likely. He pointed out a specific scenario that bothered him, and that was Kyle O'Reilly forcing his old Undisputed Era teammate Adam Cole to submit.
There's a lot of bad blood in this match. Adam Cole has personal issues with everyone in this match. He was the one to take the NXT Championship away from Johnny Gargano, Pete Dunne was part of Pat McAfee's coalition to end the Undisputed Era, and he turned on Kyle O'Reilly months ago.
