#1 Adam Cole def. Johnny Gargano - NXT Championship 2 out of 3 Falls match

Match Of The Year contender?
Match Of The Year contender?

The 2 out of 3 Falls stipulation was the perfect way to end this legendary rivalry over the NXT Championship, and like we knew they would, Johnny Wrestling and Adam Cole delivered.

From the beginning, the crowd was hot for this contest (a traditional wrestling match), giving chants of "This is Awesome" as Cole went 1-0 up on the challenger due to a DQ by Gargano.

A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.

Johnny Wrestling would then tie the match at 1-1, forcing Cole to tap after some brutal spots. Then came the third and final fall, the Chamber of Horrors, where the winner needed to win via pinfall or submission.

This was everything it needed to be to finally put this incredible rivalry to bed, as both men pulled out all the stops to win NXT gold, but after a brutal crash from the top of the cage, it was Cole who retained his coveted Championship.

This one was a masterclass in storytelling and how to build a match and a rivalry, and although we don't know what Johnny's future holds, this performance solidifies him as the best wrestler in NXT history.

Gargano and Cole just put on the NXT Match of the Year, and arguably the one of the greatest matches in WWE history, and going forward, it's safe to say that both of these men are true main event Superstars.
