Walter retained his United Kingdom Championship in Cardiff

Tyler Bate was looking to become the first-ever two-time United Kingdom Champion in the main event of Takeover: Cardiff, but since he was up against Walter, it was quite obvious that it was going to be an uphill battle for the first-ever Champion.

The match was as hard-hitting as expected and saw Bate escape serious injury when Walter picked him up and looked to powerbomb him into the ring post but this move came up short and Bate ended up just hitting the post with his head so medical staff had to be called over to check that he could continue.

The commentary team even stated that the move came up short and Bate was lucky not to have been injured by the move since he later went on to have a fantastic match against the United Kingdom Champion, which would have been the match of the night if it wasn't for the fact that the Champion botched a powerbomb.

Walter was able to retain his Championship after a 40 minute match against Bate where the inaugural Champion pushed him to his limit but he was still able to prove that he deserved to be at the top of the United Kingdom division.
