2018 has been an excellent year for the Women in the WWE, as we have seen a huge resurgence in the Women's Division.
Follow Sportskeeda for the latest WWE news, rumors and all other wrestling news.
The year started off very shaky for the division itself as we had Nia Jax as the Raw Women's Champion, as well as Carmella as the Smackdown Women's Champion at one point of time.
It was clear that the WWE were attempting to create new stars, but unfortunately for Carmella and Nia Jax- they simply didn't have what it took to capture the attention of the fans.

However, Summerslam 2018 was the event that is responsible for the sudden rise in momentum for the Women's division... and it all began with a heel turn for Becky Lynch.
At The Hottest Party of the Summer, we witnessed an exciting Triple Threat match between Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Carmella as the three superstars battled it out to compete for Smackdown's coveted prize.
It was Charlotte who managed to gain the win to become a six-time Women's Champion.
Unfortunately for Charlotte, the jealousy in Lynch's eyes was clear as she went onto viciously attack her former friend after the match. She had lost her temper, but surprisingly- the crowd in Brooklyn were absolutely loving it.
It was clear that the fans had enough of seeing Charlotte win again, as they clearly wanted to see somebody new at the top of the throne. Therefore, a true star was officially born following Lynch's heel turn.
Character development is crucial when it comes to Superstar switching alignments, and WWE took advantage of this by capitalising on Becky Lynch's meteoric rise. She might have been a heel in terms of storyline, but she certainly wasn't a heel to us.
The reasoning behind Becky Lynch's heel turn was perfect. She claimed that Charlotte was always being given opportunities that should've belonged to the Irish Lasskicker.
She went onto berate the fans, but they weren't having it due to the fact that they agreed with her. She said what we were all thinking.
WWE went onto change the landscape of this rivalry by having Becky switch into the role of a Tweener. She wasn't the squeaky clean babyface that we all used to know, and she certainly wasn't the sneaky heel that we are all used to. Lynch was living up to her name as The Irish Lass Kicker.
Lynch went onto challenge Charlotte for the Smackdown Women's Championship at Hell in a Cell 2018, in a match where Becky gained the win to become champion for the second time.
Following that, Becky faced Charlotte in the Last Woman Standing Match at the all women's PPV event, Evolution- where Becky was once again victorious following a Powerbomb onto Charlotte from the top turnbuckle into a table.
And after this, it was clear that Becky was heading into the path of greatness- and she fully earned the right to be labelled as 'The Man.'
However, it was the build-up to Survivor Series 2018 that changed the game forever. Lynch was originally scheduled for a huge inter-brand champion vs. champion match against Ronda Rousey, and it couldn't have come at a more perfect time. You had two women who are at the top of their game, this match was destined for success.
Until an invasion from the Smackdown Women's roster, led by The Man herself, turned pear-shaped.
Lynch was shown backstage, having Rousey locked in the Dis-Arm-Her. It was the perfect sight to see for all the die-hard Becky Lynch fans. But then shortly after that, the chaos spiraled into the ring.
And all it took was one devastating punch from Nia Jax to put a dent into Becky's claims into being The Man.
Nia Jax's punch to the face was untimely, and whilst it may have been unintentional- it was a clear sign that Nia was being careful enough.
But truth be told, that punch may have been a blessing in disguise. We witnessed a powerful picture of Becky being busted open, and yet still showcasing that Irish grit that she has managed to be recognised for.
The unscripted punch allowed us to see the straight fire that the wrestling world had been yearning for.
And whilst The Irish Lass Kicker wasn't able to compete at Survivor Series 2018, she managed to turn a negative into a positive by appearing on Smackdown the following week.
At TLC 2018, we may have seen Asuka defeat Becky Lynch and Charlotte in the first ever Women's TLC match for the Smackdown Women's Championship- but this was the best possible scenario they could've gone with after Ronda Rousey pushed Lynch and Flair to screw them out of the title.
The idea behind the nickname 'The Man' suggests that it doesn't matter what gender this person is, they are a cut above the rest. And The Man is certainly living up to the expectations that everyone had set for her.
We've seen Eric Bischoff state that Becky Lynch is going to be "the next Stone Cold Steve Austin." And I couldn't disagree more. The reason why?
It's because The Man is the first ever Becky Lynch.
Sure, she has Stone Cold shades of Steve Austin in her character- but the truth of the matter is... Becky Lynch is the best thing to have happened in the WWE for a while. She is officially the cream of the crop.
And as we head into Wrestlemania 35, there isn't a better superstar to headline WWE's biggest PPV of the year than The Irish Lass Kicker herself. The story has been built in with Ronda Rousey costing Becky Lynch and Charlotte the Smackdown Women's Championship.
There are of course rumors that there will be a Triple Threat Match, but that's the wrong choice.
It wouldn't feel the same if Charlotte was involved, as we've seen many combinations of a Triple Threat Match that consisted of Charlotte and Becky. There is no doubt that Ronda Rousey vs. Becky Lynch would be the best possible option to main event Wrestlemania 35.
It seemed as if Ronda Rousey was being positioned to be the face of the WWE... but an organic upsurge in momentum despite a rocky start to the year has led to Becky Balboa being the perfect choice to conquer The Baddest Women on the Planet.
