11 moments that I loved from Ultimate Deletion

The Ult
The Ultimate Deletion took place at the Hardy Compound this week

After Bray Wyatt defeated Matt Hardy on an edition of Monday Night RAW last November, the transformation to 'Woken' Matt Hardy had begun. Since that point in November, "The Great War" has been waged between these two with no one getting a clear advantage in the feud.

Wyatt would defeat Hardy at the special edition Raw 25 in New York City; while Hardy would get his win back at the Elimination Chamber in February. With no end in sight for this Great War, Hardy challenged Wyatt to the Ultimate Deletion at the Hardy Compound, and Wyatt gladly accepted.

Prior to this, there were three battles at the Hardy Compound while at Impact Wrestling, The Final Deletion, Delete or Decay, and Total Nonstop Deletion. Each special provided a unique style of professional wrestling never before seen.

As for this week's Ultimate Deletion, it was everything I had hoped for and more. I completely enjoyed it and appears the WWE Universe did as well as Monday Night Raw finished hour three with over 3 million viewers.

This article will take a look at my favourite 11 moments from the Ultimate Deletion in chronological order. Let's start from the beginning...

#1 WOKEN Matt's hologram projecting from Vanguard 1

Vanguard 1 delivers Matt Hardy's welcome message to Bray Wyatt

While it's not anything new or truly spectacular, I absolutely loved the fact that Vanguard 1 welcomed Bray Wyatt to the Hardy Compound once he entered the gates. Vanguard 1 would project an image of Matt Hardy who would tell Wyatt to "follow the music" to start the Ultimate Deletion.

I loved this moment because it told me that the Ultimate Deletion would have the same feel and style as the past segments that aired on Impact Wrestling. It put my mind at ease that I would instantly like the entire segment.

#2 Reby Hardy playing Bray Wyatt's entrance music as he approaches the ring

The talented Reby Hardy

Matt's wife Reby Hardy played a big part of his Broken Brilliance during the inception on Impact Wrestling. She would appear on the stage playing the piano for Matt Hardy's entrance, but at Ultimate Deletion, her appearance had a twist.

She was playing the piano at ringside, and if you listened closely, you could tell that she was actually playing Bray Wyatt's entrance music as he made his way to the ring in the Hardy Compound. It was a very nice touch that was added to the segment.

#3 Another staple of the Deletion series returns, fireworks!

Vangua
Vanguard 1 saves the day again

Fireworks have been used in every one of the past Great Wars at the Hardy Compound, and the Ultimate Deletion was no different. They have been used as a defense mechanism and as a weapon in the past.

In the opening moments of the Ultimate Deletion match, Bray was getting the upper hand on Matt. This lead to Matt calling on Vanguard 1 to initiate the fireworks as a diversion to distract Bray Wyatt. The tactic worked as Matt Hardy would regain the upper hand.

#4 The recreation of the Wyatt Compound

A recreation o
A recreation of memories lost for Bray Wyatt

Not everything in the Ultimate Deletion was a variation of past Deletions as Bray would find out after the action took them away from the ring. As they approached "Dilapidated City", we find out that Matt re-created the Wyatt Compound that Randy Orton burned to the ground a year ago.

They would show flashbacks of the actual house on fire to go with the action at the Hardy Compound, and I thought it was a brilliant touch. It was so effective, it brought Wyatt to his knees in joy before the agony kicked in.

#5 Straight out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon

Wh
Which way did he go?

After Matt Hardy escaped the attack of Bray at the Dilapidated City, the match took us to the "Land Of Obsolete Men" which was a graveyard of sorts with several markers planted in the ground.

The action here reminded me of those old Bugs Bunny cartoons where Elmer Fudd would chase him down a hallway with a lot of rooms and Bugs would peek out of a random room to taunt Elmer. Here, Hardy would taunt Wyatt from a random grave marker, only to disappear when Wyatt attacked with the kendo stick.

This was one of the more hilarious moments from the Ultimate Deletion.

#6 The return of the Dome of Deletion

The D
The Dome of Deletion was host to an entire episode of Impact Wrestling

The Dome of Deletion made its debut on Total Nonstop Deletion, an entire episode of Impact Wrestling that took place at the Hardy Compound. This particular show aired on 15 December 2016 and featured the main event called Tag Team Apocalypto; which was a 44-minute match that featured several tag teams and cameos.

Halfway into the Ultimate Deletion match, Bray stumbled upon the Dome of Deletion after he had rammed Matt's head into the door. The door would open up on its own to reveal the Dome we were introduced to over a year ago.

#7 Mower of lawns or chair with wheels?

Bra
Bray Wyatt's fate was almost sealed by the mower of lawns

After Matt regained control of the match inside the Dome of Deletion, he had a unique decision to make. What was his next weapon of choice? The lawnmower (or mower of lawns in Matt's language) or the wheelchair (the chair with wheels)?

It was a hilarious moment because of the fact that Matt went back and forth for some time calling out these instruments of destruction before he finally decided on the lawnmower. Unfortunately for Bray, the Mower of Lawns won out, but just as Bray was about to get run over, his trademark spider crawl stopped the lawnmower cold in its tracks.

#8 Return to the Lake of Reincarnation

The famous body of water at the Hardy Compound

After Bray Wyatt overcame Matt Hardy in the Dome of Deletion, he dragged Matt to the famous Lake of Reincarnation. Wyatt said that this is his Ultimate Deletion, so it appears that Wyatt was going to throw Matt into the lake, possibly turning him into Matt Hardy version 2.0.

Wyatt was looking to finish the job by delivering Sister Abigail onto Skarsgard the Dilapidated Boat, but thankfully Vanguard 1 made the save and once again distracted Bray Wyatt from a certain victory.

#9 Señor Benjamin enters the battlefield

Señor Benjamin with an assist in the Great War

It looked like Vanguard 1 was going to meet its doom at the hands of Bray Wyatt, but Bray noticed that Skarsgard was flipped over and assumed Matt was inside, so Bray turned his attention back to the Woken One to finish the job; however, it wasn't Matt underneath Skarsgard.

It was Señor Benjamin! He was the most beloved star that was created from the original Broken Hardy segments, and he showed up on the battlefield with a mini-globe that he would toss to Bray while singing, "he's got the whole world in his hands."

#10 The return of Jeff Hardy and debut of Brother Nero on WWE television

Brother N
Brother Nero, I knew you'd come

As Bray was reeling from the surprise of Señor Benjamin hiding under Skarsgard, out of nowhere Brother Nero appears to also sing "he's got the whole world in his hands." Jeff Hardy has been out with a shoulder injury since September, but it's being reported that he's preparing for his return at the Performance Center.

Just as Bray turned around to strike Brother Nero, Wyatt noticed he was gone. That distraction led to Matt hitting the Twist of Fate on the banks of the Lake of Reincarnation to get the victory in the Ultimate Deletion, but it wasn't over yet.

#11 The cliffhanger of what happened to Bray Wyatt

<p>
The Great War is OVER! Or is it?

After Matt Hardy got the victory, Bray Wyatt told Matt that the Great War was not over yet; however, Matt would disagree. Matt would use a kendo stick to cross-check Wyatt into the Lake of Reincarnation.

Shortly after, Matt would ask Señor Benjamin to retrieve Wyatt from the lake, but when Benjamin entered, Wyatt was nowhere to be found. Matt declared that the Great War was over! In the end, they left us with a cliffhanger of what happened to Bray Wyatt to cap off a tremendous Ultimate Deletion segment.
