New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

The 4-time World Heavyweight Champion was covered in blood after he was knocked off the ladder and hit his head into it. The Viper suffered a huge gash to his head due to the accident. Ringside doctors had to immediately attend to him.

The Evolution star posted a picture of his injury and the dozen stitches on social networking site Twitter. There has been no confirmation yet regarding the time needed to heal from this wound. But the gash will not keep Orton out of the ring for long. The wound is a laceration in nature, and there has been no reported concussion as of yet, thus RKO can be assured of a quick recovery. Here’s an image of the injury, taken from Orton’s official Twitter account (Warning: Image may be graphic in nature).

Doctor updates his situation on WWE’s official site

WWE's official website provided an update on the injury from Dr. Amann. "I evaluated him immediately after the incident. He did not show any signs of a concussion, so what we did ringside was to stop the bleeding with a mixture of Vaseline and epinephrine - which is also known as adrenaline. By putting that in the wound and by applying direct pressure, we were able to get the bleeding to stop, so he could finish the match. Immediately after the match, we brought him back to the training room where we thoroughly cleaned the wound and put 11 staples in his head. We are going to monitor him for any signs of neurological changes and we'll follow up with him tomorrow at Raw in Hartford, Conn." Orton's Twitter picture later confirmed the number of stitches as 12.

The only one who benefitted from Orton's suffering was John Cena. The 251-pound star was crowned World Heavyweight Champion, for the 15th time in his career. The FU star had to overcome interference from Authority member Kane.

With Triple H and Stephanie McMahon watching from the ringside seats, Kane walked in to help Orton win the title. He dispatched Roman Reigns from the ring and was close to handing the title to Triple H's ally Orton. But Cena came back to perform Attitude Adjustment on both of them, and lifted the belt in front of a cheering Boston crowd.

Cena will now defend his title against the beast Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam on August 17.
