Paul Heyman discusses about the departure of CM Punk

Narbavi

Everybody knows that Paul Heyman is a very good friend and mentor of CM Punk. So naturally people were looking forward to hear from him regarding Punk’s sabbatical from the WWE.

He sat down with former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho on his podcast and talked about Punk’s mindset prior to leaving the day after Royal Rumble.

“He was Unhappy. He had enough.” said Heyman. “He couldn’t take it anymore...A year before he walked, these were daily conversations of, ‘I don’t think I’m going to be able to take this. I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to be here. I don’t know how much longer it’s going to be before I just decide to go home.’ I’m surprised it lasted that long...Every day with him was an exercise in him finding the balance to simply continue on and find the passion he needed to do it.”

Heyman continued, “And I think what happened was he walked in the day after the Royal Rumble and he couldn’t find that passion. He couldn’t convince himself or persuade himself, ‘OK, whether I’m happy or not this is about the performance, my legacy. It’s about I take pride in what I do. And whether I’m happy or unhappy when I go out there I’m going to be the best CM Punk I can be.’ And I think somewhere during that day he couldn’t find that.”

Heyman clearly feels that Punk left when he felt that he could no longer live to his reputation. This wasn’t the first time he spoke about his friend though. A couple of months ago, on ‘The Steve Austin Show’ he revealed that Punk and have been in touch all the time but they never talk about the business.

Instead, he said that they talk about the usual things that friends speak about when they talk to each other. Punk did break his silence recently after so many months, and while fans are still hoping to see him back in the ring, the signs pretty much say that it is not going to happen anytime sooner.

Recently, there were also rumours about his partner AJ Lee being pregnant.
