What's the story?
At NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, Pete Dunne teamed with Roderick Strong to challenge for the NXT Tag Team Titles in a triple threat tag team match. After being betrayed by his partner, it seems that Dunne has asked for help from some old friends.
In case you didn't know...
Prior to taking part in WWE's United Kingdom Championship Tournament, Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate, and Trent Seven dominated the indie scene as British Strong Style. The hard-nosed British technicians and strikers captured multiple titles before jumping to the WWE, both tag and singles titles.
When they arrived on the scene in the WWE, however, all three men split up to try to capture the UK Championship. Dunne and Bate would end up in the finals of the tournament, with Dunne falling to Bate. The two men would fight over the title a handful of times over the course of 2017, with every battle getting more intense.
This isn't the first time that the UK guys have clashed with the Undisputed Era, as Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O'Reilly attacked Seven, Bate, and Wolfgang late in 2018 a handful of times, with Dunne not lifting a finger. However, it seems that Dunne and Bate might be willing to put their rivalry aside for a greater good.
The heart of the matter
After Pete Dunne was betrayed by Roderick Strong during their match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, he posted a picture on his Instagram, featuring himself, Tyler Bate, and Trent Seven.
It seems that Dunne isn't done with Strong and the Undisputed Era yet.
What's next?
The Undisputed Era has reclaimed their tag team titles, even after Bobby Fish injured his knee. Now, with the addition of Roderick Strong, they're stronger than ever.
At Axxess tomorrow, Pete Dunne, Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly will all defend their titles against the winners of the UK, NXT North American, and NXT Tag Team Invitationals that took place over the week.
Author's take
Bringing British Strong Style together to take on the Undisputed Era is pretty exciting. Tyler Bate and Trent Seven have been used sparingly over the past year, and this would be a great feud to reintroduce them as tough battle hardened wrestlers. For those of you who haven't seen BSS or Mustache Mountain, the tag team of Tyler Bate and Trent Seven, in-ring outside of the WWE, you're in for a treat.
