Several WWE stars have undergone several changes in the past few months. Some have found a partner, some went solo, some turned heel, some turned face, among others. One superstar who can consider making a change in their character soon is Xavier Woods.
Xavier Woods joined WWE in 2010, but it was in 2014 that he started gaining popularity after joining Kofi Kingston and Big E as part of The New Day. The trio has accomplished many things, but the 37-year-old remains the only one in the stable to achieve a solo championship run. Xavier recently tried for a solo championship, the company's Speed Title, but came up short against Andrade. Interestingly, this could push him to go for a darker role.
Karrion Kross and the rest of The Final Testament on RAW have targeted The New Day recently. The Doom Walker has made it a mission to drive Kofi and Woods apart, and he may be nearly successful after Woods grew frustrated after not capturing the Speed Title from Andrade.
The last time Xavier was a heel was in February 2016, which means it's been a while since fans have seen this side of Woods. This could gain him more interest if he does transition into being a singles star. Also, he has more motivation to turn heel after not winning a solo championship yet in WWE.
Did WWE already plan for The New Day to break up in the past?
The New Day has been one of the longest-operating tag teams/stables in WWE today. Interestingly, the Stamford-based promotion may not have planned for the group to break up, but for something else.
In a past episode of The Wrestling Matt, former WWE personality Matt Camp stated that the company had plans for Kofi and Xavier to turn heel after the latter won the 2021 King of the Ring. With this in mind, the former host of The Bump believes it's more likely to see The New Day turn heel instead of them breaking up.
"When [Xavier] Woods was King of the Ring, there was a discussion of turning him and Kofi [Kingston] heel. I don't know how far it went, but there were conversations about that. And I think Woods would be a tremendous heel. Once again, [they're] not breaking up The New Day."
It would be interesting to see what is next for The New Day and The Final Testament's story on RAW.
