Rusev has been dominating the main roster of WWE as the United States Champion. After winning the belt from Kalisto at Extreme Rules pay-per-view, Rusev has been unstoppable.
When Kalisto could not regain the belt from the Bulgarian Brute, the former WWE Tag team Champion, Titus O’ Neil, challenged Rusev.
The feud between Titus and Rusev has been continuing for a month now but it seems that the rivalry will be put to an end. The new plans for the United States Championship features a rivalry between Rusev and another former United States Champion, Zack Ryder.

According to allwrestlingnews.com, Ryder’s recent victories on RAW and SmackDown actually hints towards his upcoming Championship feud. After defeating Sheamus at SmackDown, he even asked for an opportunity to fight for the United States Championship, thereby confirming the viral rumors.
Most probably, Zack Ryder will face Rusev for the Championship at the upcoming Battleground pay-per-view.
Zack Ryder won the Championship back in late 2011 but the reign was short lived. Whereas Rusev dominated the entire roster during his first reign as the United States Champion. He was undefeated for over a year, before ultimately losing the belt to John Cena at WrestleMania 31.
With matches like SHIELD triple threat, Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens, John Cena/Enzo/Big Cass vs The Club, and now Ryder vs Rusev, Battleground is shaping up to be an awesome pay-per-view.
