Johnny Gargano was avoiding an NXT North American Championship match for a while. Bronson Reed had staked his claim for the title, which led to The Way trying to foil him at every turn. The two were supposed to face each other a few weeks earlier, but thanks to some interference from The Way, that didn't happen.

Instead, Johnny Gargano and Bronson Reed competed in the main event for the NXT North American title inside a steel cage. Reed proposed the match to keep The Way from getting involved.

Bronson Reed dominated most of the match as he threw Gargano about the ring like he was a lawn dart. He even hit Gargano with an Avalanche Samoan Drop, looking to further dominate in the match.

When the time came, it looked as if Reed would come up short. The steel cage door was shut on his face. However, he didn't let that stop him. Instead, he came out stronger than ever. He hit Gargano with a huge slam, before going to the top rope and hitting him with the Tsunami Splash to finish off the bout.

Just like that, Bronson Reed became the new NXT North American Champion.

It's unclear what's next for the champion, but with a solid win like that over one of the best NXT has ever seen, he may hold the title for a long time.
