With another Survivor Series in the books, the WWE Universe looks ahead to the New Year and a new era with Netflix. This year's Survivor Series delivered plenty of action that will result in more exciting storyline developments in the near future.
The Bloodline saga dominated much of the attention from Survivor Series, but there were other memorable moments worth mentioning. One of them was the World title match. Thanks to Finn Balor's help, Gunther retained his title, which leads to the question - who's next?
This is our list of potential challengers for Gunther's WWE World Heavyweight Championship after Survivor Series.
#4. 3-time WWE Champion Drew McIntyre
It's been nearly two months since Drew McIntyre was in a WWE ring. His last match was a classic when he settled his feud with CM Punk at Bad Blood on October 5th. Drew was busted open during that bout, resulting in him needing 16 staples to close the wound.
There hasn't been a lot of talk regarding Drew McIntyre's status lately. However, PW Insider recently reported that WWE is discussing creative plans regarding McIntyre's return. One way to welcome him back would be challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. This could be a compelling feud that fans would easily get behind.
#3. 16-time WWE Champion John Cena
As we heard him say at Money in the Bank, John Cena is preparing to retire and will soon begin his farewell tour. While all of the details have not been revealed, he is expected to work roughly 40 dates throughout 2025. starting with the inaugural Netflix episode of RAW on January 6.
There was an announcement made recently that John Cena will be at Elimination Chamber in February. WWE is advertising the event as "the last time ever" for Cena to be in Toronto. With 16 World title reigns under his belt, it would make perfect sense to have him go after Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship in hopes of capturing that elusive 17th reign.
#2. Former United States Champion Logan Paul
Since signing with WWE, Logan Paul has proved he is much more than a part-time wrestling celebrity. He has exceeded the expectations set by many wrestling fans. Logan has already achieved more in a short time than anyone could have possibly anticipated.
Logan Paul hasn't worked a full-time schedule since starting his wrestling career. However, he has made it clear that he intends to dedicate more time to his in-ring career in 2025. Considering that there is currently no creative direction for The Maverick, there is a possibility that he could challenge Gunther.
#1 - Former Universal Champion Finn Balor
The relationship between Finn Balor and Damian Priest has always been fragile. They were a great team as members of The Judgment Day, but somewhere along the way, egos took over and caused a rift in the faction. Since leaving the stable, Priest has been haunted by Balor's evil intentions, costing him matches on multiple occasions, including his title shot at Survivor Series.
After Finn Balor cost Damian Priest another title opportunity at Survivor Series, it left a lot of questions regarding Balor's next move. He could continue to torment Priest, or he could turn his attention to Gunther and the World Heavyweight Championship.
