The story took an interesting turn when the duo won the SmackDown tag team titles from Sheamus and Cesaro at the Royal Rumble. Unfortunately, the celebration didn't last long as they lost the titles to The Usos at Elimination Chamber, leaving an irate Miz to apologize profusely to a dejected Shane.

The Fastlane PPV is emanating from The Miz's hometown, and even though some fans are looking out for a Miz heel turn, WWE might swerve us here and do the reverse, turning Shane heel for the first time in years.
Shane and Miz lose again, which leads to Shane attacking a distraught Miz in front of his hometown crowd. This will garner immediate heat on Shane and lead to a grudge match at WrestleMania.
