This year's Money in the Bank pay-per-view will be the tenth of its kind and will feature two marquee matches - one for the men and one for the women. The winner of the MITB Ladder Match will receive a contract which they can cash-in for a WWE World Title shot at a time and place of their choosing within the next year.
Four out of the eight spots have already been filled by Braun Stroman, Finn Balor, The Miz and Rusev. The subsequent weeks of Raw and SmackDown will feature more qualifying matches for a spot in the match.
Here are the predictions for the remaining four spots in the Men's MITB Ladder match. We shall assume that 4 spots will be filled by Superstars from Raw and 4 from SmackDown, with 2 of the 3 SmackDown Superstars in this list qualifying for the match.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 Bobby Roode
To be honest, Roode's run on SmackDown Live was lacklustre at best. Even his US Title run was very underwhelming and did the title more harm than good. The Superstar Shake-up gave a fresh start to Roode when he was moved to the red brand.
But even on Raw, Roode has wrestled against Elias three weeks in a row, with no apparent storyline. The best way to redeem the former NXT Champion's value would be to place him in the MITB Ladder Match.
He might not actually win the Ladder match, but a victory in a qualifying match will certainly add to his momentum and propel him to the main event scene.
#4 Big E
On SmackDown last week, WWE announced that in next week's episode Sheamus would take on Big E in an MITB qualifying match. From this, along with the speculation going around that the company is planning on pushing Big E in a singles run, we can conclude that Big E will indeed be filling a spot in the men's MITB match.
Also, as we reported earlier, the former tag team Champion is shockingly the current second favourite to win the Ladder Match, according to betting odds per Sky Bet. While this might mean good news for the big man, it remains to be seen what will become of The New Day.
#3 Samoa Joe
It is very apparent that backstage officials have high hopes for Samoa Joe, as is evident from his strong booking ever since he was promoted to the main roster. But due to unfortunately timed injuries, his momentum has been slowed down. After returning from his latest injury, Joe got into a feud with Roman Reigns and failed to defeat him at Backlash.
The best way to book the Samoan Submission Machine next would be to have him enter the Money in the Bank Ladder match. He is sure to feature in a qualifying match for MITB in the upcoming weeks, and it very unlikely that Joe will lose the qualifying match.
The fans are also completely behind the former NXT Champion, and it won't be shocking if Joe manages to go all the way and win the MITB briefcase as well.
#2 Bobby Lashley
Bobby Lashley made his shocking return to WWE on the Raw after WrestleMania 34 to a loud ovation. Since his debut though, Lashley's booking has been directionless and haphazard.
It looks like the company isn't sure how to book the former TNA Superstar going forward. Even at Backlash, Lashley competed in a meaningless tag team match alongside Braun Strowman and won against the team of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Though very dominant, the alliance between Lashley and Strowman is surely just temporary.
The best way to book Lashley going forward would be to have him enter the MITB match. If WWE really wants to push him going ahead, they might even have him win the briefcase and cash-in sometime later this year to win the Universal Championship.
#1 Andrade "Cien" Almas
One of the best heels in NXT and former NXT Champion, Andrade "Cien" Almas, along with his associate Zelina Vega, will be debuting on SmackDown Live this week. Almas dominated the developmental brand as long as he was there, and WWE will now look to push him on the main roster soon after his debut.
The best and most dominant way to do so would be to have Almas beat a fan favourite in a MITB qualifying match on his debut. Even though it is pretty unlikely that he will end up winning the briefcase, a stellar performance in the Ladder Match will be a great way to get the mainstream audience behind Almas.
Honourable mention: Big Cass is another dominant member of SmackDown Live who can qualify for the MITB match, but after recent rumours about backstage heat on Cass, fans might see a drop in momentum in his future booking. Cass might replace either Samoa Joe or Almas from the blue brand.
