Predicting the results of WWE Stomping Grounds Match Card

Who walks out with the win?
Who walks out with the win?

WWE Super Showdown is in the rear-view mirror, and the company now moves ahead towards the show this week on Sunday. The show hasn't clicked with the WWE Universe, and the ticket sales haven't been as good as expected according to the Twitter user TheVicMacias.

With so much going on between WWE and AEW whose show happens the following week after Stomping Grounds the biggest wrestling juggernaut needs to pull off something good to get the fans talking after the show. With that in mind, I list down the results of the matches that take place on the show and the reasons behind the same.

So without further ado, let's get down to it, and if you have some other thoughts, sound off your reasons in the comments:

Disclaimer: These results are based on the matches announced at the time of writing.

#9 Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre

Kick or Punch: Who wins?
Kick or Punch: Who wins?

The Scottish Psychopath and The Big Dog fighting back and forth confirms that this storyline and feud is far from over. Drew and Roman have been fighting for a long time, and whether the two had a backup, or they went at each other between the ropes, the entertainment was always phenomenal.

With the story still going on, I am confident that the company will try to extend this story until SummerSlam. The only way to do so is by making the heel Drew McIntyre walk out of the new show with the hand held high.

There's nothing better than to have two powerhouse performers bring the house down with their work. These two are over with the fans, and that will be a great way to take this story further in the coming months.

Result: Drew McIntyre walks out with the win

#8 Kofi Kingston (c) and Dolph Ziggler (Steel Cage Match for WWE Championship)

Will Kofi's show be off?
Will Kofi's show be off?

Kofi Kingston has got good competition from Dolph Ziggler. The Showoff had The Jamaican Champion's number at WWE Super Showdown. While he couldn't win the gold at the show, he is still the most energetic wrestler on Tuesday Nights and can elevate careers as well as storylines.

It is his skill to bring out the best from his opponents that has ensured the feud for the current WWE Champion. As a master on the mic and between the ropes, he can definitely provide good entertainment to the fans. The good part about this would be that he wouldn't get his hands on the gold, and it would be wonderful if their feud is taken over to SummerSlam.

The two together at The Biggest Party of the Summer can help Smackdown get better ratings and worthy praises from the WWE Universe. If he wins the title from the current champion at the pay per view in August, Tuesday Nights will not be the same again.

Result: Kofi Kingston retains the WWE Championship

#7 Seth Rollins (c) and Baron Corbin with a special guest referee (Universal Championship)

Will it be End Of Days for the Universal Champion?
Will it be End Of Days for the Universal Champion?

The Universal Championship hasn't seen the best of days, as it kept going to part-timers namely, Brock Lesnar and Goldberg. The KO Show with the title wasn't great either as it was won and lost in quick time. This year's Wrestlemania has helped the title get relevance, thanks to Seth Rollins.

With just two months into this title, the company wouldn't want to find a replacement to the title, until Brock Lesnar decides to cash in his Money In The Bank Contract. It would be better off if The Beastslayer finds a better opponent than Baron Corbin to lose the title. I, for one, don't see the champion losing the title any time soon, however, this match will have full entertainment for the fans, and that's all that matters at the end of the day. The special guest referee will have a major role to play in the outcome.

Result: Seth Rollins retains the Universal Championship

#6 Samoa Joe (c) vs. Ricochet (United States Championship)

Inflict Pain, Joe!
Inflict Pain, Joe!

Samoa Joe got to know first hand on Raw that Ricochet will be the #1 contender for his US Championship. With so much on the line and a push in place, The One and Only will get the opportunity to showcase his skills at the show. The champion did attack the challenger on Monday Night, but this didn't change the fact that the feud didn't get the time to be hyped.

With no hype, Samoa Joe is the real winner of the match, and it also means that this feud will continue until SummerSlam comes along. Ricochet should have won the title way back, but it's about time for him to show up and shine. He will take down The Destroyer in a good fight, and despite that, he wouldn't win the title from the champion.

Result: Samoa Joe retains the title

#5 The New Day (Big E and Xavier Woods) vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

New Day Rocks
New Day Rocks

At first, it seems irrelevant for the company to start a feud out of the blue, and then try to keep the fans involved in the same. The New Day and Sami Zayn-Kevin Owens had no feud until last week, and in 7 days the match has been established for a brand new pay per view, WWE Stomping Grounds.

As is the case with many matches in the roster, the feud hasn't been built well, so you can expect the favorites to pick up a win. This is until the company decides to swerve fans and take this story to the biggest party of the summer, SummerSlam. The fact that Big E made a return a few weeks back, and needs to start his journey with a win can't be overruled.

Result: The New Day wins the match

#4 Becky Lynch (c) vs Lacey Evans (Raw Women's Championship)

Will The Lady be Lass-kicked by The Man?
Will The Lady be Lass-kicked by The Man?

Lacey Evans impressed everyone with her in-ring skills during the #1 contender match, and things seemed to elevate from there on. Her promos, along with her in-ring prowess, make her the preferred challenger. If anything is to go by, her work at Money In The Bank made a lot of members of the WWE Universe believe in her.

This confirmed that The Sassy Southern Belle will be getting more opportunities in weeks to come, and her being the contender for the match is definitely the most probable thing. Whether she wins it or not, is for Vince to decide, we can be sure that there will be sheer entertainment during the build-up and the match between the ropes at the show.

There is no better contender for Becky Lynch right now, so this is already a part of the show match card. With Becky's Twitter talk with Beth in place, we may see her interfere in the match, but that shouldn't be a reason behind Becky losing her title.

Result: Becky Lynch retains the Raw Women's Championship

#3 Tony Nese (c) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Drew Gulak (Cruiserweight Championship)

Not a pre-show anymore
Not a pre-show anymore

The first thing that comes to mind when I write this slide is the fact that this match isn't taking place in the pre-show. This is such a wonderful thing that one can't express in words. Cruiserweight division hasn't got the due credit even at the grandest stage of them all, but it seems like the trio of Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, and Akira Tozawa have finally got the place they deserved.

With Tony Nese's reign as the cruiserweight champion going strong some may not be of the opinion that he needs to lose the title, but it is about time that a new champion is crowned. This will be a talking point and put the division on the map. With 24/7 championship also a part of 205 Live, this will be the right way to enhance the division.

Result: Drew Gulak wins the Cruiserweight Championship

#2 Daniel Bryan and Rowan (c) vs. Heavy Machinery (SmackDown Tag Team Championship)

The Planet is in safe hands
The Planet is in safe hands

SmackDown Tag Team Championship is on the line at the show and the fact that we have new challengers for them makes this storyline more interesting. It must be noted that Heavy Machinery were impressive during their run on the Yellow Brand.

The two against Daniel Bryan and Rowan means one thing – a wonderful match as well as compelling storyline down the line. With new superstars in the storyline, other tag teams will be able to work towards making the division better. Think about The New Day and The Usos coming over to take the #1 contender spot, and the challengers winning the match will put them in the perfect spot.

The challengers don't seem to be winning the match here, but they may do it at SummerSlam if the storyline continues.

Result: Daniel Bryan and Rowan retain the SmackDown Tag Team Championship

#1 Bayley (C) vs Alexa Bliss (SmackDown Women's Champion)

Hug the title
Hug the title

It was a refreshing change for the WWE Universe when Bayley won the women's Money In The Bank Ladder Match and then cashed in the contract on the new champion Charlotte Flair. This was the second time the women of the WWE cashed in the briefcase on the same night after winning it with Alexa Bliss being the first woman to do so last year.

The champion has improved over the weeks, and it was a long due push that she has finally received. The Goddess versus The Hugger will be a match that will be the talk of the town. It is also a possibility that the two showcase new and amazing skills to the WWE Universe. Alexa Bliss has definitely pushed the match to a good level, but will they deliver on the debuting pay per view.

Result: Bayley retains the SmackDown Women's Championship
