Since Randy Orton made his WWE debut in 2002, he created many memorable moments and also ended several legendary careers. These acts by Orton earned him the moniker of 'Legend Killer.' Over the years, this name is something Orton has also taken a lot of pride in.

However, The Apex Predator must now pass the torch and give this name to a SmackDown Superstar. The SmackDown Superstar in question is none other than former NXT Champion, Carmelo Hayes. The 29-year-old is a massive favorite to carry Orton's 'Legend Killer' legacy forward.

On the recent episode of SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes caused a major upset as he beat Tama Tonga and Randy Orton to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match. Hayes took advantage of a distracted Orton and rolled him up to gain a pinfall victory.

Later, during a conversation with Kayla Braxton on SmackDown LowDown, Hayes hinted at taking over Randy Orton's status as 'Legend Killer.' Hayes took pride in the fact he pinned Orton and told Braxton that he must start calling himself the 'Legend Killer.'

Randy Orton could take Carmelo Hayes under his wing

While Orton might seem to be as fit as anyone on the WWE roster, the fact that he has taken a lot of blows can't be denied. However, these blows taken by The Viper have helped him become a veteran backstage. This is why, Orton could consider taking Carmelo Hayes under his wing.

For the first time in his career, The Viper could act as Hayes' manager and teach him his ways. If the former NXT Champion is able to pick what Orton teaches him, then he can surely expect to have a great career on the main roster.

Randy Orton could balance out his in-ring career

Before returning to WWE at the 2023 Survivor Series, Orton suffered from a back injury which kept him out for quite a while. While The Viper has completely recovered since then he certainly would not want to undergo the same travesty again, and that's why he could have to balance out his in-ring activities.

By taking a young star like Carmelo Hayes under his wing and managing him, Orton will be able to spend some time away from in-ring activities which will also be good for his longevity. Hence, due to all these reasons, it will be interesting to see if someone takes Orton's Legend Killer status away.
