Randy Orton is expected to miss significant time after an injury he sustained last Friday on SmackDown as a result of an assault and a piledriver from Kevin Owens. The Viper left the ring on a stretcher and has been ruled out indefinitely.

The plan for Randy Orton and Kevin Owens was to have a rematch at Survivor Series: WarGames, but WWE wrote Orton off TV and held off the rematch from Crown Jewel. With the 14-time World Champion out, the Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes was expected to step up and reignite his feud with Kevin Owens. However, 4YouWrestling recently reported that it was very likely that the American Nightmare would not be part of Survivor Series: WarGames.

On that occasion, a WWE legend and Randy Orton's rival could return sooner than expected and reignite his feud with Kevin Owens. This WWE legend is John Cena, who will likely return for his farewell tour next year.

Even though the farewell tour is expected to start on the RAW premiere on Netflix on January 6, 2025, the Cenation Leader could return on SmackDown and Survivor Series: WarGames and have a couple of segments with KO, opening the way for a match between the two megastars once John Cena starts his farewell tour.

Kevin Owens could be fined for his banned piledriver on Randy Orton

Kevin Owens used a banned move to injure Randy Orton and sideline him indefinitely, as WWE has provided no timetable for The Viper's return.

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis is expected to address last week's incident and sanction KO. Aldis could impose a heavy fine on the former World Champion or even suspend him indefinitely.

That way, Nick Aldis could help protect Owens' momentum by keeping him out, especially if Cody Rhodes is out for Survivor Series: WarGames. On that occasion, KO could return once Rhodes returns and get another title shot before Orton's return.

Once The Viper is back, he will be out for revenge and could face Kevin Owens again either at Saturday Night's Main Event or the RAW premiere on Netflix (Monday, January 6, 2025).
