WWE WrestleMania 31 saw Seth Rollins face off against former Authority teammate Randy Orton.

After turning on The Shield and joining The Authority in 2014, tensions quickly began to build between the future of the faction, Seth Rollins, and the present of the faction, Randy Orton.

The Viper became increasingly upset at what he perceived as preferential treatment of Seth Rollins by The Authority. This all culminated with Seth Rollins attacking Randy Orton on Monday Night RAW in November, curb-stomping Orton's head onto the steel ring steps. The assault left The Viper kayfabe injured and off television for several months.

Randy Orton eventually returned to WWE at Fastlane 2015, attacking members of The Authority. Over the course of the next few weeks, Randy Orton continued to tease re-joining Seth Rollins and The Authority. However, Orton revealed his true intentions when he eventually attacked Rollins on RAW, setting up a showdown between the two at WrestleMania 31.

The match between Seth Rollins and Randy Orton at WWE WrestleMania 31 is best known for its spectacular finish. In the closing moments, Seth Rollins attempted to hit a Curbstomp on Orton but The Viper countered by sending his opponent high into the air and hitting Rollins with an incredible RKO for the victory.

The moment is often re-played to this day and referred to as one of the greatest RKOs of all time and an incredible WrestleMania moment.
