It was father vs son at WrestleMania X-Seven as Vince McMahon faced off against Shane McMahon

Ironically, Shane McMahon's greatest WWE WrestleMania match came against his own father at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001.

The storyline heading into the match involved Mr. McMahon's outlandish behavior becoming more and more outrageous and damaging to the McMahon family. The McMahon patriarch had begun a romantic affair with Trish Stratus and caused his own wife, Linda McMahon, to have a nervous breakdown and be confined to a wheelchair. The prodigal son, Shane, eventually had enough of his father's antics which led to a brutal street fight at WrestleMania.

However, in the midst of this McMahon vs McMahon storyline, WWE acquired their main rival, World Championship Wrestling. During the historic WWE Monday Night RAW and WCW Monday Nitro simulcast, it was revealed that Shane McMahon had "purchased" WCW. Therefore, at WrestleMania it would be the owner of WWE vs the owner of WCW.

Far from a technical classic, the McMahon vs McMahon street fight had everything that you would expect. Weapons, violence, blood, drama, the entire McMahon family getting involved and Mick Foley as the special guest referee.

The match even included a WrestleMania moment where Linda McMahon, after months of being confined to a wheelchair and showing no emotion, rose out of the chair and kicked her cheating husband Vince in the groin.

Shane eventually defeated his father in a match that was special for so many reasons and featured WrestleMania moment after WrestleMania moment.
