Ranking the 4 best current wrestlers in the WWE is far from an easy task. There are a ton of excellent options at the top of the men’s game right now, all of whom provide consistently great entertainment.
In creating this list, I’ve focused most on their recent performances. 2018 and 2019 matches have been analysed the most closely, however there is also a focus on their longevity at the top of the game.
Outside the ring, I also took into account their ability to entertain the fans, particularly on the mic. A huge positive about each of these men is that they’re great both inside and outside the ring, making for a ton of exciting and memorable bouts.
While it was tough to distinguish between these 4 elite wrestlers, I believe this order ultimately ranks them fairly. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the top 4 wrestlers in the WWE right now.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#4 Braun Strowman
The charismatic big man Braun Strowman had another solid wrestling year in 2018. It didn’t get off to the best start as he lost to Brock Lesnar in his challenge for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble.
He followed this up with a bang however, eliminating John Cena, the Miz, Finn Balor, Elias, and Seth Rollins in the Elimination Chamber. It was great to see him get his deserved WrestleMania moment after he defeated the Bar to win the Raw Tag Team Championship.
He also managed to set a Royal Rumble record by eliminating 13 men to win the Greatest Royal Rumble, and then he won Money in the Bank. As one of the best athletes at his size in the WWE, I expect more big things from Braun going forward. He deserves a spot in the top 4 now and has a definite shot to climb this list in future.
#3 Daniel Bryan
As the current WWE Champion, there’s no doubting that Daniel Bryan has been in fantastic form as of late. Having been retired for just over two years, it was a pleasure to see him dominating back in the ring in 2018.
He got his very own memorable WrestleMania moment when he and Shane McMahon won an entertaining bout over Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens at Wrestlemania 34. Moreover, he set a fantastic record in the Greatest Royal Rumble, lasting a whopping 76 minutes, 14 more than Rey Mysterio’s previous record.
Undoubtedly his most impressive recent highlight was taking AJ Styles’ crown and becoming WWE Champion. He definitely faced some adversity in getting this title, having lost to Styles previously in the latter's epic reign.
His end of 2018 matches with both Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles were truly special and show the potential he still has in the WWE. A bit more longevity at the top and he definitely climbs these rankings.
#2 AJ Styles
One of the most charismatic figures in the WWE, there’s no denying that 2018 was another strong year for AJ Styles. He began 2018 as the WWE Champion and actually defended his title against Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at Royal Rumble.
This was backed up by an impressive win over Owens, Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, John Cena, and Baron Corbin at Fastlane. Nicknamed “The Phenomenal One”, Styles then made his way into WrestleMania, disposing of Shinsuke Nakamura in an incredibly entertaining bout to retain his title. This capped off a strong and consistent run against some really high-level wrestlers.
The only reason he isn’t number one right now is his title loss to Daniel Bryan, which he also unsuccessfully tried to reclaim. Combine his exciting style in the ring with his consistent wins against top competition and an entertaining mic game and you can see why Styles belongs on this list.
#1 Seth Rollins
The countdown is over with big Seth Rollins deservedly taking top spot on this list. A superstar in every sense of the word, I think he still has at least a half-decade at the top of the WWE.
Having started 2018 off as a Raw Tag Team Champion, he fought valiantly in the Royal Rumble before ultimately losing this title. Instead of letting this get him down, he won an epic match against the Miz to become Intercontinental Champion, giving him the lucrative Grand Slam.
He was able to defend this title several times against the Miz, Elias, Mojo Rawley, and Jinder Mahal before a loss to Dolph Ziggler. Other highlights from his incredible 2018 include a Raw Tag Team Championship reign with Dean Ambrose and a win over Shinsuke Nakamura at Survivor Series.
With Rollins’ elite athleticism, wrestling ability, and mic game he is certainly up there with the WWE’s best right now. As the youngest man on this list, I believe the best is yet to come.
