#1 Kenny Omega finally gets betrayed by Cody Rhodes- NJPW: New Beginning, 2018
The issues between Omega and Rhodes initially started at last year’s NJPW: Dominion 6.11 event, when Cody tried to interfere and stop Omega’s IWGP Heavyweight Title match against Kazuchika Okada, by throwing in a towel.
In response to Cody’s actions, it was Omega who then decided to throw in the towel on behalf of ‘The American Nightmare’ at last year’s G1 Specials in the USA, when Cody went toe-to-toe for the IWGP Heavyweight Title against Okada on this occasion.

Things eventually took a very ugly turn between Cody and Omega, as the two men got into another heated argument with each other at this year’s NJPW: New Year’s Dash event, after the former decided to brutally target Omega’s former tag team partner and real-life friend Kota Ibushi.
However, after all the twists and turns and the rising tension with The Bullet Club, ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes finally decided to pull the trigger on Omega at NJPW: New Beginning earlier this year, following Omega’s US Heavyweight Title loss to ‘Switchblade’ Jay White.
After a grueling showdown against White, a new challenger for the IWGP US Heavyweight Title seemingly emerged in the form of Omega’s fellow Bullet Club stablemate Hangman Page, as things eventually started to get out of hands when Cody made his way down to the ring and got in the face of the leader of The Bullet Club. An irate Kenny Omega, then shoved Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks, who then decided to leave the ring and headed to back, but, Cody, on the other hand, had other plans in his mind.
Following The Bucks' exit, things eventually broke down as both Cody and Hangman Page—alongside a confused Marty Scurll—proceeded to brutally assault Omega, before his long-time partner Kota Ibushi ran down the aisle and made the save, before both Omega and Ibushi eventually shook each other’s hands and then shared a hug, in order to finally reunite The Golden Lovers for the first time in years.
This was truly an astonishing and dedicated segment, much like every single Bullet Club betrayal in the history of NJPW and ROH.
