#7 Best in the World vs. Best in the World, Money in the Bank 2012
No DQ for the WWE Championship: CM Punk vs. Daniel Bryan, w Special Guest Referee AJ Lee
2012 is WWE's worst pit stop year as it saw the slow turn and rise of Daniel Bryan and the unfair treatment of CM Punk's historic title run against the backdrop of part-time lethargy led by the Rock and John Cena hogging the limelight.
It perfectly bookends two premier WWE summers in 2011 and 2013, as such the Money in the Bank event; a return after 2011's history-altering main event sees the two men who'd come to define the company's current landscape face off in a match.
This would be their final singles contest in a rivalry that had been woefully under the shadows of Cenation excess.
Yet it would produce albeit with an AJ Lee sized distraction their best match yet. In parts brutal as necessitated, in parts entertaining much like the WWE mandate but overall a contest befitting two such like-minded technicians.
That we got to see Punk vs. Bryan in the WWE is miraculous, that it occurred with such intensity is a gift unto itself.
