If you want to cap off the WWE calendar with a successful WrestleMania, then a top notch main event is absolutely vital. No matter how good the rest of the show is, if the last match doesn't live up to the hype as much as people were anticipating then the event as a whole can fall flat on its face.
It sounds extreme, but that's the cut throat nature of this business.
Over the last few years, we've been treated to a variety of interesting show enders around the nation, with this list starting with WM28 in Miami and ending with WM32 in Dallas.

They're all different in their own special ways, but there's definitely a clear distinction between a few of them when it comes to how good in-ring they actually were.
With that being said, everyone experiences things differently. For example, if you were there live for one of the choices we perceive to be bad, you may have a different opinion of it.
Alternatively, if you didn't buy into the hype surrounding a certain match-up, your viewing experience may have altered drastically from someone who was completely invested in the characters involved.
Whatever the case may be, it's always interesting to discuss, and with that being said let's rank the last five WrestleMania main events from worst to best.
#5 Triple H vs. Roman Reigns (WrestleMania 32)
Now it's been covered on a number of different occasions, but it deserves it's position here - Triple H vs Roman Reigns was without a doubt the worst Mania main event of the last five years.
It's a shame too, because if you add a No Disqualification stipulation onto this and put in some smoke and mirrors things go up to an entirely different level. Then again, maybe that's just wishful thinking.

The build around this match made Triple H look like more of a warrior than Roman, and going with the long drawn out wrestling match with Reigns coming out on top was never going to go down well. AT&T Stadium showered the two competitors in the ring with a chorus of boos, and considering WWE's arrogant booking it's hard to blame them.
We rewind the clock three years now to a sequel of sorts.
#4 The Rock vs. John Cena 2 (WrestleMania 29)
When John Cena won the Royal Rumble and The Rock defeated CM Punk for the WWE Championship, the WWE Universe issued a collective groan.
After their first bout twelve months earlier had been promoted as Once in a Lifetime, we were getting a second instalment of the feud which begs the question - was this their plan all along?
As it turns out, the answer to that was yes. The two-year plan from WrestleMania 27 all the way through to MetLife Stadium played out perfectly on WWE's part, but despite their best efforts the fans just weren't as into the rematch as the company may have been hoping.
Throwing finisher after finisher in there wasn't enough, and it left many people feeling a tad deflated as Mania 29 went off the air.
Now it's time to jump ahead to one of the most memorable moments in sports entertainment history.
#3 Randy Orton vs. Batista vs. Daniel Bryan (WrestleMania 30)
Nobody wanted to see Randy Orton vs Batista in the main event of WrestleMania 30, and thanks to the power of the Yes Movement that wasn't the match we got.
Instead, a small bearded man entered the fray and stole the hearts of millions of people watching around the world by capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and finally getting his big moment on the grandest stage of them all.
However, it only makes it to number three on this list for few reasons. First off, the triple threat bout at WM20 felt painfully similar to this one and whilst that isn't necessarily an issue, it was hard not to make comparisons. Also, the match at Madison Square Garden did feel that touch more dramatic.
Plus, the crowd were notably flat for the first portion of this match which was admittedly understandable given that they'd just watched the streak die.
Back to a match we've already alluded to on this list.
#2 John Cena vs. The Rock (WrestleMania 28)
When you build a match for over a year, you have a certain responsibility to the fans to make it as great as it possibly can be. At WrestleMania 28 in Miami, The Rock and John Cena accomplished that goal with one of the most memorable matches in WWE history.
Was it a technical masterpiece? No. Was it a spectacle? Yes, which is exactly what it should've been given the anticipation behind it.
Everyone was expecting Cena to walk into SunLife Stadium and defeat the hometown boy Dwayne Johnson, but alas it wasn't to be and it set the two men on a collision course that wouldn't end until the next year in New Jersey.
The atmosphere was electric, the mood was tense and the match was as nerve-racking as you would imagine. All things considered, this worked.
We finish with one of the most unexpected successes in WWE history.
#1 - Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins (WrestleMania 31)
Nobody, literally nobody could have imagined how happy the WWE Universe would be once WrestleMania 31 went off the air.
With many fans believing that the company were pushing Roman Reigns too hard and too fast, Vince McMahon pulled his trump card as Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and won his first ever WWE Championship. One word - wow.
But that wasn't the only thing that made this match great. For the first 10 minutes or so that the match was going on, Lesnar and Reigns beat the absolute hell out of each other with the Beast Incarnate dominating from the first bell.
Roman, however, slowly worked his way back into the bout and it seemed like he was destined to win the gold until Seth's music hit. From start to finish, this was absolutely superb.
